My desk:

Gathering ideas for some fall birthdays.  I know one likes vintage, all enjoy fall. I haven't had much desk time. Our weather was beautiful and I made more Echo papers.   You may have to click the photos to enlarge. 

My DH planted gourds and Ornamental Corn, a few ears inside this photo. I gathered up the husks, some purple, some natural.  Picked the purple to boil in water to see the colors.  Then:

Drained the water, a very pretty color and layered the papers with husks between layers, tied with twine, added colored water, rusty metal pieces,( nails, small chain, etc) to a big old roaster, topped with 2x15 pieces of wood and topped with  heavy rocks.

Remember wear gloves when working with the colored waters.  Use big oven mits when removing "HOT" rocks and quickly know where to take them. I use an old cake pan and they sit outside to cool.  

The colors were a very subdued blue tone. When I separate the wet papers I lay on an old window screen to dry. Preferable outside in the sun. Wind can be a factor somedays.   

Above are the papers   and  below is a 12x12 white cloth napkin (had stains) wanted to see what would happen with fabric.  I like it.  I'll use muslin the next time as I will have more use for a few Echo fabric pieces.  Hoping to do orange and red leaves as the trees turn color

Welcome, just where does the time go?  Wednesday's is the day we share our workspace. Ms Julia at the  STAMPING GROUND invites anyone to play along. Some of us have been blogging friends a long time.

My desk this week:

Some sticks I picked up from our wind storm.  My attraction was the variance of colors. And an idea I've had at some  point and times. We were very fortunate to only have leaves/sticks plaster our house and yard.

80 MPH winds just north destroyed trees, corn crops, buildings. And hail was more gentle here then there also. 

Then I picked up leaves and Echo dyed papers with them and some avocado peel, boiled with tea bags and water for the colors here drying on a screen.  

Leaves removed and this is what I'll use in journals eventually:

The very bottom one to the left was on the bottom.  I have chicken wire at the bottom of the roaster and It picked up the design great.  Much darker as my water evaporated.  I'll have to watch more close the next making.  You'll have to enlarge the photos for better images.  

I am playing catch up in various areas of our house,  as hubby took the rainy day to go to the casino.  I had to bow out  I worked with Salsa, Roasted tomatoes, Yellow beans all day yesterday and now have left leg and sciatic pain. We also turned on our furnace. It was only in the 40's here today !!! What a crazy world we live in.  Temps and Rain are to be here all week.  Even snow in States West and North of us.

Thanks for stopping by.  It's 6 AM  and temps are 52 and darkness.  Days are shorter and our weather is up and down. Just like CoVo and most of our lives right now.   Thank goodness for our gatherings and internet service.  You can visit our Wednesday gatherings by visiting our hostess at the STAMPING GROUND

The BIG numbers and Alpha were recent online purchases.  The pink cut outs are the colors I am working with, but they turned out not to be the right sizes for my project.  I should be able to share my last few weeks work shortly.  I ran into issues, as our 2 month old printer had to be sent back to HP, it crashed and a new one was sent.  I was in the middle of making copies of necessary photos so it has put me on a delay.

It was cleared off yesterday as I moved my 4 projects up to our office. Way to much humidity, my glue was not drying.  I moved the dehumidifier from working in the storage area and now it's working on getting my space back to normal.   It is an unusual year here !!!! 

I was busy last week working with garden produce: tomatoes, green beans, cucumbers. His garden is pretty much done except for squash, gourds and pumpkins.

Welcome fellow deskers, time to visit Julia our hostess at the Stamping Ground it's the day we share our desks. I've missed a couple of weeks, but details why are crazy. You'd have to be a Facebook follower to understand my life.

2nd work area is making Collage on Rolodex cards and master boards.  

Just below I have 2 posts  on 2 journals I've almost finished. I will have another post on later today or tomorrow, on the disaster our State has been through.  It was a week from hell for most of the Southern part of Iowa with an unheard of Derecho.. Hurraciane Winds/Water in a none ocean area.   My son/family are all safe but living in temporary housing their home is Unlivable.  Roof gone and filled with water. Over a week with no electricity, gas, or available motels.

SECOND PINK JOURNAL

Welcome,  Wanted to share the 2nd Pink Journal. It was put together page by page with tape tabs instead of a spine or sewing. Quick and pretty easy.     It has taken me longer to post anything as I am not having much luck with the NEW BLOGGER WAYS AGAIN:  to find photos, and learn the new blogger symbols, rearrangement of Scheduling ETC.   I thought it worked great the other way. BUT that's NEW TECH. 

This journal was the same paper pad that the 1st pink journal was made with.  It's unique as it is put together with a HINGED or TAB BINDING.  I used Washi Tape  You can find the tutorial on You Tube there are several. I used this sight https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WBZgKFqS0AY&t=71s

One Pink Journals.

It's been a wild 8 days in our life.  Derecho like a inland hurricane tore up the southern part of our State coming from Nebraska and heading all the way to Indiana.   My son lives in the 2nd largest city in Iowa and Cedar Rapids is devastated. More than 50 % of 100 year old trees are uprooted and being cut up and hauled somewhere.  Over 50,000 homes have been lost to roof damages and water and my son's was one of them.  But they are safe and after 5 days of no electricity, gas, hotels, limited food, they will be moving into a home a few doors down. A new construction area and no established trees. 

My 2 journals were made in different ways but with somewhat the same paper pads.
