Can YOU Identify this Little Creature

This cute little thing was found by my hubby outside our garage.



If any of you can identify this little green creature let me know. I cannot find it in my Audubon Field Guide.

I'm just glad he's not all woolly:  meaning a hard cold winter.

I'm not sure what this little varmit is but is that a stinger on the back? Wow!

I thought he was the kind I always used to see in our garden...especially on tomato plants...same or no???
