September Challange with Mini Album Makers

Welcome, I am so happy to have had some time to create again.  I've been making bits and pieces of Journals, but just never got the groupings organized enough to finish one. Well, a challange over at
Mini Album Makers Blog really gave me some great motivation with their fun blog hop inspiration.

This was my first attempt of a journal...using paper, cardboard, bits of lace and using the binding technique. Several years ago I made a small fabric album for my sisters wedding anniversary. I used the sewing machine, which I had to replace and the new one being computerized I've not yet got real creative with it.

I started with an old pair of rusty door hinges  3 1/2" L  x  2 1/4" W   Finished Size

Binded together with brown jute

 Cut the thin cardstock  3" L x 3 3/4" W and corrugated cover 4 " W x 3 1/2" L, then applied Gesso

Arranged and Rearranged the pages, found bits and pieces  and small rubber stamps to use

The front corrugated cover has a bit of tea dyed lace and a real feather 

Inside pages

 Old note paper and book pages

 A tea bag has space for a tag

The back cover is adorned with a paper die cut feather. 

The book binding uses more of the jute

 Some stripped leather makes up the closure and another real feather adorns the top  I've tried to do a research of the type of bird, but with no luck so far. We have a LOT migrate through so at this point I am unsure.

WOYWW #483

Welcome to another WOYWW, hosted by Ms Julia at her STAMPING GROUND blog.  I am a little late in posting, but thankful for working electronics. Some wild storms last night, ending in mostly heavy rains, not sure about our area, but a few miles north 4 inches. Lack of sunshine for several days has put us in a really slow moving mode. Forecast is same for rest of the week. Joy, Joy.
Thankful that my son missed tornado action by a few blocks over our holiday weekend.

I have enjoyed having time in the crafty space, working on a few projects for a challenge, so can maybe post on them by next week.

Desk shows a few stamps and tiny things. That little 'tiny' book from last week is pretty small to fit most things in. I have no talent with lettering, or free hand drawing so that rules the easiest idea out.

I did pick up a few tips on stamping ink, and the color I want in the brand that don't bleed will have to be ordered on line or make a 40 mile trip to purchase. Sometimes I miss living in the city. But I have plenty of things to keep me busy.   One being "Fall Decor".

Oh it's a fly by Wednesday....the day we share our work space. Hosted by Ms Julia at the STAMPING GROUND.   You can hop over and get involved or peep on desks all over this world.

Sharing 2 spots this week, I've had indoor time all of yesterday as we had down pours of rain, some hail and darkness.

The tiny little flower left of the ruler, hopefully will be a tiny little book. I've yet to do the inside and pick a theme. Have to locate "smalls".  Also noticed  the circle ATC's  now and wanted to get the 2 1/2 size ready to make a few. Some pretty gold sparkle leafed  trim I found stashed away with "fall" items, plus a misplaced bunch of tags.

 Here is kind of suppose to be a sewing table for cutting  fabric etc. But it's now full of coffee dyed cloth items for making a few small journals. I've enjoyed so many YouTube videos on this. Sometimes overwhelming and they seem to get them done in a day !!! ???  Wish me luck.

Happy Wednesday.  The day we share our desks.  Ms. Julia at the Stamping Ground is our hostess and has all the ways to enjoy a fun visit here, there and everywhere.

I really haven't done much at my desk, but I did drop off some new purchases on our adventure to celebrate our 13th Anniversary.

 We were headed for a bigger town to have Chinese food for lunch, but when arriving it was totally closed up and gone from the area. We did some shopping and  called another place thinking on our way home we could stop. Being Monday we have a lot of things closed. But they were open at 4 pm and we ordered the special a 2 tail  Lobster dinner  !  Shared with a Jumbo Shrimp dinner.  It was a wonderful surprise.

 This is another adventure. WALKING again.  the humidity is gone and cool weather is here for a while.  So out I went.  It's a long lonely road. But nature offered a lot.  I prefer to walk in town, but this is so much quicker. After the second light pole is our lane towards the house.

Welcome,  it's early, early morning here, couldn't sleep, somehow "heat" overtook a good nights rest.
After a few emails I noticed "Wow" it's Wednesday already. And that means another What's On Your Workdesk Wednesday, hosted by Julia at the Stamping Ground.

Our wonderful weekend, celebrating Mother's 90th Birthday. One of her most favorite things is spending time with her grandkids.  All but the one on the left live all over the USA. One is missing, my military son is in the process of moving to the Boston area.  I'll do another post on great grands, siblings etc in a few days. Really....not...we have a wedding, a neighboring church gathering, a tractor show, and about 3 other events to make decisions on. So next week, I'm still behind on the cows venturing around the farm during the night.

 I did make a wedding card yesterday, but again the photos are somewhere hidden...oh the frustration of this automatic labeling One Drive is doing...I really need a day to watch You tube. on it.

 Some little oddities for making a little journal 

Some really old books and a well used catalog from the Charles William Stores New York City. I have yet to find a date on it. But it has to be old, Plaid dresses are $1.49 !!! This came from a little shop we stopped by after taking the grand kids home from their summer visit, before moms birthday.  Another busy time ! The fair, swimming, loving and laughing a lot.

Hello dear friends...making an early scheduled post as the rest of the week is all booked up.

It's our Wednesday desk sharing  and HERE at Julia's is the place to be. 

My desk was a busy one  My sister and sister-in-law and hubby's each celebrated their 45th wedding anniversary within a few days.  So I made so similar tags.

The above was for my sister and her husband  The stone was from some of my grandmothers jewlery
I had a wonderful surprise when cutting out the navy papers...the back was a sticky back. Oh yeah so hard to attach those fine letter cut outs.  I only hope these stay together.

The above here was for our sister in law and his brother.. the Celebrate embossing folder broke after this was made.

My desk has a few new little stamps I really wanted to play with and still the crescent wreath I used last week.  But getting ready for family coming for Mom's 90th Birthday Friday.
 Preparing food for our big family picnic on Saturday  And we took the 3 grandkids 1/2 way to meet their parents from their fun visit.  Cancelled out of my luncheon with classmates for Wednesday, a 4 hr road trip and too much for me with this high humidity, my neck, shoulders and arms are a mess.

Welcome, so much has happened since last week.  Today you can visit creative spaces as it is Wednesday and hostess Julia has info HERE  on her blog.

YouTube, online reading on ONE DRIVE  has maybe helped me with my photo issues  YEAH!!

My desk for this week :

Some new stamps and coloring using copics.  I find they work the best on all types of paper. These were really practice papers for the envelopes below.

 Had to make a sympathy card. My DH friend who died unexpectedly and we traveled to Cedar Rapids for the funeral Saturday.  Staying with Son and family overnight was a delight we needed . The services were so very nice. Some clergy can make you feel so good a about "Celebrating the Life Lived" 

This was a quick birthday card before we left  for another blogging friend. The papers were so pretty I just embellished with a flower in front and mailed it before we left.   I really NEED to make cards and create a stash, instead of this last minute stuff.

On Thursday Three towns were hit by tornadoes just south of us 70 miles....one town Marshalltown had major damages to the downtown area,  (a niece and friends live there)  the next area wiped out 3 large production buildings of Vermeer Mfg near Pella  my brother only lives 20 miles from here and the 3rd went thru a new housing area in Bondurant.  Sometimes where my grand daughter plays softball.  There were 27 funnel clouds reported by CNN in Iowa that day.  And no reported deaths.
And all family and friends were spared damages.  Clean up, clearing downed trees and repairing poles for much needed electricity continues.

Good Morning to all,  it's is a beautiful sunny day here.  Hoping I can find the photos, one of my problems when importing is,  I try to change the name of the folder and it won't accept it. One Drive? just puts it where ever . Will have to YouTube it I guess.

 Spent a few days sorting in the crafty space, taking a break for the almost done storage space which has much bigger pieces to deal with.   Sorting a box of old jewelry, bits and bobs

I had saved candy tins and they were a great help in this sorting ...

Truly I don't think I will live long enough to work with even 1/2 of this stuff.  Crazy, Crazy

I' ve really accomplished a lot with my storage clean out.
The upstairs is a mess from  taking a lot up there and not had time to sort it or tag it for sale prices. We donated 2 loads to the Exceptional Opportunities resale shop.

I'm so thankful the Thailand rescue went so well. What an ordeal. Hoping all can be transitioned back to a normal life.

 We've been in and out all week and I have had sometime for being creative.  Today a  Holiday in our City Park pretty much all day.  But I'll be here, as the heat will be near 100 and I can no longer deal with those temps outside.

Most every town in Iowa will have somewhat the same things, most people wearing Red, White, & Blue

When I grew up it was Family gatherings, lots of photos, picnics at the lake for the farm and fireworks in our back yard.  Now with everyone scattered all over the country, most of the family gatherings are not happening. photos are digital on cameras, and fireworks is regulated by the state, and or towns for safety reasons. Not many memories to be made.

South of us this past Saturday towns were hit with 7 to 10 inches of rain, flash floods, one man killed and cars washed away, and many totaled out from deep water. Home basements filled with water. Most of this is not covered by insurance so many will have to apply and use disaster funds.  Now mosquito's are abundant. 

 Hubby and I went to Clear Lake one day after shopping in the nearby town, we toured the City Gardens, such a beautiful place, a small stream and volunteers do so much to keep it beautiful
