WOYWW #247

It's Hello, How are you.....Good Morning is not really whats happening here right now.    It's 12AM here and I'm off to dreamland, as posting in the regular daytime will not be probable this week.  We have a list of things starting at 8AM away from home. The breakfast out sounds the best, and the worst will be the depressing tax appointment.  Hoping to somehow squeeze in a visit to an Antique Shop and the Chocolate shop!!!! I'll even buy.

Oh Ms.Julia at the STAMPING GROUND  is host to  #247 of What's On Your Workdesk Wednesday. And she has all the info on her blog if you are new to this adventure.

My desk since last week has had a variety of things happening
The Sympathy card I was making, looks like none of the items I had gathered together. The gentleman was a Military man and I so thought this was perfect paper.  The eagle flying high and the colors.

Click the photo to see a larger view....bits of a baby card, Easter stamps, tape (hoping temps rise so my glue can be mailed) and my trusty glasses.

This is the remains of  Valentine supplies to organize and stash....seems the sofa takes the brunt of my picking up and placing things here, then there, and no where.

This is a photo of the storm Thursday, 8 inches of white stuff. Roads were covered with ice from the rain that proceeded the heavy wet snow. 4 Foot drifts all about our yard and lane. We were lucky, electricity was only out 4 hrs during the night. Some lost power for most of Friday because of ice and 60 mph winds.
Now our forecast is -24 degrees with wind chill, and more snow Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Many people are having frozen pipes, as it has been so cold for so long the frost is so deep. So no water for them til the thaw.  I' m thankful we have had no real problems from all this so far.

I will be around to visit a little late this week, but looks like I should have time if this storm comes about.
So thanks for stopping by, and I hope you are having Sunshine and Flowers popping up.

WOYWW #246

It's WOYWW over at Julia's blog   STAMPING GROUND  each Wednesday we share our creative workspaces through the little fun post she started a few years back. She's all the details on her header if you're new to this adventure.

Going thru my 12x12 box of supplies for making Sympathy Cards. Seems I've used a lot of these lately.

I've a dear blogging friend, whose father is now in hospice. Brings back my July memories of  my dad.
There is no easy way around it.  I'll no doubt rearrange these papers time, and time again before I start to glue them together.  I ordered some glue online but got a nice little reply that she cannot ship it until the temperatures warm up.  Something I hadn't thought of.. Today was 40, the snow melted, it was 9 yesterday and tomorrow night's forcast more snow and sub zero temps.  Maybe I'll get my glue in May !

Thanks to all of you who stopped by with comments last week. Enjoy your WOYWW adventures today.
I'll be visiting here and there.  I've plans to visit my mother before the storm arrives so may be a snowday visit.

ITEMS for my ATC SWAP

Welcome once again,
I wanted to share the items I used in the "VINTAGE PAPERS"  ATC Swap that Kimberly at ArtJOYstuff  is hosting.
This was a most Challenging Swap for me. I started out with completely the wrong items. I had some tiny Vintage Crocheted Doilies, old buttons, old Vintage Jewelry, photos, wallpaper all laid out. Then I revisited the instructions and it was stated very clearly.
Your ATCs must use only original vintage papers and/or photographs.
The only new items allowed are:
cardboard or matt board for the base
(none of which should be visible on your finished ATC),
 glue and ink.

So I was back to square one and so thankful I reread the instructions. Funny how you can interpret something and be way off base.

I gathered some items and really didn't have enough small things for this swap. I misplaced a small box of items when I reorganized my space. So my items were limited. Even the old photos were too large. I had to do some searching.
In the upper left corner are some vintage greeting cards. I got these at an auction and most items were from the 1930's, 40's, and 50's. I used the red roses and cut them for my ATC's . Also a few postage stamps
The little tattered book above had this page dated 1890.."AT THE FIRESIDE" is the title. This is what I used the the little images and sentiments on my ATC's.
This cut out is a blank page from the book. Stamped with a Vintage Print Set I got from an auction of a very close friend. I used these on the reverse of the ATC, with typed info inside.
This is some Vintage 1950's Wall Paper a close friend gave me sometime ago. and at the top is a very old doily I cut apart.  I have enjoyed using this wallpaper for many different projects.

And when our weather clears, I am going shopping !  I hope to find some SMALL VINTAGE PAPERS just to have around.  There is another Winter Weather Advisory for our area again tomorrow.

I will post the ATC'S when we have made our swap after February end.  . Hoping you have SUNSHINE and WARM TEMPS.  Just not happening here yet.  Thanks for stopping by.

WOYWW #245

Oh another Wednesday snuck up on me again. Julia at the STAMPING GROUND has a weekly adventure for anyone who wants to join in. Just hop over and she has all the info posted to participate. Simply post a photo of your workspace, and tour the world of neat and tidy, or not so neat and tidy.

I'm working on a format for another ATC swap. "VINTAGE PAPERS"  but most of what you see here cannot be used because it's all too big. I had this project all layed out and almost ready to "GLUE", got distracted and reread the post. Back to square one.....ONLY vintage papers, glue and ink, so the tiny doily, the old buttons, and ribbon had to be disguarded. And I had to spend more time trying to find a small little box of vintage ephemera, rember I reorganized and no doubt a new location yet to be found for this collection.  Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr.  If photo's too small, click it and it will become larger for you.

It's 2 AM here,I  got too warm and could not get back to sleep. Then I remembered WOYWW and looked at the temperature outside  WOW....we are on our way to SPRING.  It is a PLUS 13 degrees and may be in the 40's by Saturday. It's been 3 days of below -10 sometimes -20 and no sun. I will be so thankful to be warm again and will enjoy some outdoor activity.

Short and Sweet, thanks for your visit and comments you make.

"ELM" A Wonderful Children's Book

I had a delightful surprise in my mail today.  My cousin in Minnesota has a very creative son, who mailed me a copy of his new children's book.  Oh, I was so impressed.

The colors are astoundingly beautiful. Adorable characters: ELM the Tortoise, Darby and Dilly the Loons,
Slip and Slide the Otters, Mother Grouse, Oswald the Osprey, Father Eagle, and Baby Ash.

A great story about a Tortoise
Written and Illustrated by Simon Weber
I love this illustration of the Loons
These are available for purchase through  Simon Weber  on Facebook, or I can help you with any questions.

I always love it when people pursue a dream AND follow through with the reality.  Simon's creativity, artistry, and imagination are so fun and uplifting.  CONGRATULATIONS SIMON, and I hear a 2nd one is in the process.

Thanks for stopping by, and remember you never out grow loving BOOKS, and enjoying what they bring to so many people.

The Kraft Journal Challenge 157

I  have made a few Valentines for family after I was so inspired by the Design Team over at
The Kraft Journal . And I just had to enter into their challenge "Here's My Heart"

I again used the Kraft card, added a background heart paper of various colors, a sparkly tulle, a doily heart, some pretty pink lace with little clusters of danity flowers.  I loved the little girl image, she reminds me of my little growing up too fast granddaughter, and a few little red hearts .I also tattered the edges and distressed them a bit.

The Kraft Journal  also has the Kraft Outlet that has a great variety of  Krafty needs.

Thanks for stopping by, keep warm and think thoughts of spring !

Challenge 157 - Here's My Heart !

I haven't entered any challenges lately, but a few caught my eye with the Valentine theme.  I had to create a few for family and the challenges sometimes motivate me in many ways.

The Kraft Journal  has one Challenge 157  "Here's My Heart"  now how sweet can that be.  Their Design Team had so many pretty inspiration pieces, I had to give it a go.

I used a Kraft card, added the crafty twine ribbon and a twine bow, the cute little monkey papers and created some various size hearts, with a tiny little clothes pin, and "SoulMate" verbage.  I'm thinking my grandson will think this is a "Happy Valentine"   as it states inside with a few $ bills attached.

So treat yourself to some fun, hop on over and see the fun inspiration and their product line.

"TRUE LOVE" ATC's ARRIVED

My sweet postal gal delivered some special mail today.  My husband laughed, "You've been having SPECIAL mail for 2 weeks"... My reply, "Well it's winter, I don't have a place close to get my craft supplies, magazines etc, and it's frankly easier to order on line and get it delivered...and there's more to come!!" With the winter we've been having I hardly go out.

But the SPECIAL mail is from a wonderful host, Kimberly, who hosts some fun Swaps. Here are the ATC's I received for our "TRUE LOVE" exchange.

I took individual photos but they did not turn out...will try with another camera when I get some new batteries. (Delivered!).  The ATC on the left is from Kimberly at ArtJoyStuff. She has a lovely blog too. It's almost as though she has daily posts on some very wonderful projects.  I just love it. Frozen Charlotte's are hard to come by and it will look so nice in my Pink area. Thank You Kimberly.

The Top Right is from Michele at Nook and Cranny and this is another fun blogspot. Her precious little ATC has the cutest little image topped with a stamped crown, a pretty crochet doily on the side, frilly pink bow, some red hearts and a key to his heart. Thank You Michele.

The Bottom Right is from Peggy at My Affairs with Art & Daily Life, Peggy has some great posts on her blog also.  Just love the red trim that adorns the outside and the 2 cute hearts in the background are just romantic "True Love" images.  They are hard to see but there are 7 tiny loopy flowers scattered about and a tiny gold metal heart.  Thank You Peggy.
A Special Tag, Kimberly included (she's sweet that way) with fun to use embellishments. Kimberly always has the cutest Vintage Images & STUFF.....She has a really proper name for her blog ! Thanks for the extra fun Kimberly.

This little red envelope wrapped in red tinsel is from Michele, has the fun padded hearts, some sparkly hearts and 3 precious images all to use on future designs. Thanks to you Michele.

The ATC's I sent to be part of this swap can be seen on this post:    LittleTreasures

Thanks for stopping by, I always enjoy your comments. Wishing you a wonderful, sunny, warm weekend. I'll be watching the 2 Iowa College basketball games today Big 10 and Big 12.  Mass for his mother tonight and hopefully supper with his sisters. (weather could be a factor). Then tomorrow the big game. I love football. I prefer to stay home and WATCH the SUPERBOWL, then be in crowds, visiting, eating, drinking and partying. !!!  Just one day I like to have some peace and quiet.  Guess it's my football tradition...
