Holiday Time

Wishing You and Yours a very

May you be blessed in every way.

The reason for the season:

Our winter weather has been good to us during December....a little snowfall on the ground and today there is no wind...and temp's to be in the 40's all week. Safe travels if you need to go a distance.
We will visit son/family in Cedar Rapids later and mailed our gifts for the military son/family to Virginia.  We will attend Christmas mass and have our Christmas dinner with a few friends.
Thanking all of you who sent cards   So far I've not taken time to do any of the mail intentions.
                simple decorating this year
A tree my dad made, ornaments of my grandmother's  Wall cross stitch and 2 ceramic children from my sister

And an adorable Santa Mother made
God Bless

REPURPOSE CALENDAR PAGES

Welcome, it's been awhile posting to my blog.  In the process of cleaning my crafty/supple areas, I came across "LOTS" of Old Calendars I've saved.
Wanted to show you a way to have some fun with them.
I separated the pages by taking the staples out, Cutting the pages in half.  Pretty side down, 1st fold in left/right edges 3/4 of an inch, worked best for me.  I put the hole on top if you want to ;use a brad and string to open and close. Or at the bottom if sealing shut.  and fold down 2 3/4 inches to make a fold
2nd fold from the bottom to meet the this fold.
3rd  Glue sides together....can insert a brad and add string, (maybe use reinforced self adhesive) You can color them or buy them in colors (BUT I can't find mine)

It was easier to work with the thinner papered calendar, than the textured heavier ones. But the heavier ones will hold up better.  Use for gift giving, journal pages, storing paper treasures.
Thanks for stopping by.  Have fun creating.

A First at WOYWW

I have stopped many times at Glenda's or Hels blog to see the WOYWW  so thought today with a little time I'd drop in on the fun. The Stamping Ground has all the info and fun to peep around at all the entries.
My work area is a large area in our lower level:  I love it, can leave the mess only to return to continue whatever my project may have been earlier...sometimes it just sits there and I start something totally new on the other table...
I made the BIG mistake Jan 2nd of cleaning and organizing...I haven't been able to quickly reach or find some things I use just by reaching out. But no doubt I will get use to it. I love the fact that by organizing "THINGS" it is easier to coordinate and see what I actually have.  (Way to Much )if my hubby comes down to visit..
In this picture the big pile of red is an old wool blazer I felted, with hopes of making some Valentine projects..best get busy it's not that far away...
Just next to this is another table
Under both tables are 6 plastic roller file drawer storage units which really keep a lot of goodies hidden!!!!!!!!!!!!  Well that's it for today...I have another project I am working on for storing ALL my Spellbinders so maybe can post that later next week.
Enjoy your day...It is bright and sunny here but terrifically COLD...

WOYWW 779

Welcome, just a quick post.  We have been having 2 weeks of wicked storms. It's the day we share our workspace HERE....
My hubby will be replanting both beans and corn as ponds of water have destroyed the little plants that just popped thru the ground. And I don't think insurance covers water damages.  So a little spendy year for crops. I cannot complain, several states West have lost complete towns by tornadoes. Iowa has had 2 with bad destruction. and several with minor damages.
The weeks go so fast, we will have a few high school graduation parties this weekend. My grand daughter is home form Arizona State College for the summer and hope to get to see her end of the month She and hubby have birthdays back to back, supposable a 60th class reunion being held the same time.
Not much in the line of fun at my desk.....working on ATC's and having fun with a few new ideas. Will share those soon. My desk a real mess.
I have 2  One Inch Zines ready to collage on for the May "Miini Collage group.
I did this one and not thinking used stickers ???brain is not working,  When folded/ the right bottom corner  TOGETHER will be the cover
Was good practice  Have a great week...hope you are enjoying Sunshine and Flowers.  Thanks for stopping by.

WOYWW 778

Welcome, I started the following info 2 days ago and wanted to share with you. We've been thru 2 days of weather issues.  Our area is safe, had heavy rains and lots of water standing, but parts of Iowa and Nebraska had bad destruction with tornados.  Took me about an hour to get my computer up, electricity out for a very short time, but connections lost could not be reconnected easily.

More info about our Wednesday desks  on Mr. Linky  HERE at STAMPING GROUND BLOG

Welcome, Sharing some info on mail in all of  USA. getting ready for our ATC exchange.

With all the mail issues in the USA  here is some help.  No SQUARE envelopes. extra fees for you  and also at the receiving end.   No TINY envelopes they get lost in processing  IT took mail from Iowa to ge Arizona over 20 days to arrive ............8 days within the State mail.   lack of full time help, I have at least 4 xmas cards never arriving 2 within the state and 2 Easter cards. SO I AM FRUSTRATED.

Sizes for Letters

You probably have a picture in your mind of what a "letter" is. Possibly you're using a standard No. 10 envelope for your letter, so that's easy to picture. However, if you decide to create a mailpiece with its own special envelope or if you are designing a piece that will be folded to letter-size, be sure to keep in mind the following size requirements for letters:

DimensionMinimumMaximum
Height3-1/2 inches6-1/8 inches
Length5 inches11-1/2 inches
Thickness0.007 inch1/4 inch
To be eligible for mailing at the price for letters, a piece must be:
  • Rectangular
  • At least 3-1/2 inches high x 5 inches long x 0.007 inch thick.
  • No more than 6-1/8 inches high x 11-1/2 inches long x 1/4 inch thick.

First-Class Mail letters that have one or more nonmachinable characteristics will pay a nonmachinable surcharge. Customers can be unpleasantly surprised that they must pay extra postage when, for example, they mail a square greeting card. The Postal Service charges extra postage because mailpieces that are rigid, square, or unusually shaped, often jam postal equipment and are difficult to process. This costs the Postal Service time and money—and may also damage your mailpiece.

Very little  desk time, tried to find Graduation rubber stamps as that's what is next around here.

My DIL came for a Friday night stay as she has a Home Decor business from her home making wood items  Was so fun to have her visit and see all her great makes at a Market to Market show in a town about 20 miles away on Saturday  .  They live about 3 hrs away from our home so she had lots of travel time and setting up for a few hours, Was a long hard day for her.  But my hubby and I enjoyed our time browsing around had having her here.

Hope you all are doing well,  Not sure what my day will be like, Dentist appt early and a list.

#776 What's On Your Workdesk Wednesday

Welcome and I missed you last week, it was a fast one. Something everyday and I've not caught up.  The day we share our desks thru Mr. Linky at Ms. Julia's Blog

Besides computer glitches, phones changing  set up I'm behind. Mostly with getting ready for family visitors in a few weeks and then FINGERS CROSSED. Military family headed back to USA.  (hoping the mess with destructive countries it doesn't change things) XXX

I love  area on line auctions and found some real treasures. But all the magical ideas in this head of mine can't keep up. I scored LOTS of FUN things and hope to share if I can transfer ALL the Photos soon.
My desk: (the reason for the post ! )   Making some clusters from scraps on a tiny table
I ended up scrapping the t.P. rolls idea for a journal...several came apart at the folds. But I did some stitching on a few pieces ...Seems I was into 'Tiny" creations on what little time I had to have fun.
And I cut up some tattered doilies and tea dyed them. The top is crumbled paper I didn't get pressed out in time, so will re wet it and try again.
Well Mr. Hub, is off to the field, worked grown 2 days and now planting corn. Rain is predicted  WE had terrible high winds So he cleaned up the mess of broken branches and this big limb.  With the temps of 80 I want to clean our garage...so much stacked through winter and I am sorting and maybe doing an auction on the stacks I don't use. It's a 3 stall so It's a big challenge !!!   maybe photos next week.
Wishing you all the best,
