WOYWW #498

Surprise, Surprise. It's been awhile. I've missed you all. Just had to pop by to partake in Julia's
What's On Your Workspace Wednesday.  She invites anyone who wants to play along. Her blog is HERE

My desk: you'l have to click to enlarge:

Really not much activity since I last posted.  I am way behind on the Christmas chores. Only a few holiday cards to friends/family far away who are not on Facebook. Sharing yearly catch up on our family and adventures on the farm.  Presents all bought but yet to wrap.  Decorating for my favorite season is as done as I can make it.

I am getting back in to some routine. Since my medical adventures from Thanksgiving time.
Visited the ER..overnight hospital stay and a day back doing lots of tests.  I'm fit as a fiddle. ! . ! :
According to all the tests.

Started eating regular foods 2 wks ago in small amounts and so far various choices are sitting well.
I thought I had a severe  flu bug or food poisoning and some heart issues.  One pill to see if it might be acid reflux...seems to be helping  The heart shows I have a left branch bundle block. With age it has changed somewhat.  Another appt in January.

Some wonderful weather has helped me to enjoy some outdoor walks and shopping.  My sister took me for some girl time shopping and a special lunch yesterday to celebrate my birthday. And my sweet patient hubby took me to my favorite pub for a pizza and  drinks.  All seems well.

Thank you for stopping by, I hope to visit your post and catch up on a few of the previous.

I case I don't get back to post. Wishing you and yours a blessed and happy holiday season.

Mini Album Makers Challenge Guest Designer

Welcome:   It was much to my surprise that I was chosen to be the Guest Designer at the Mini Album Makers Challenge blog last month.   I had only made 1 journal up to this challenge, and that was a fabric book made for my sister's 40th Anniversary.  You can see their post on this HERE

I have been YouTube watching and one day my husband asked me if I had any use for some hinges.
I thought, told him "ya maybe"...so he left them lay on the table, then it hit me. I had made some Mini cardboard cut outs and 2 of these would be a great cover. The results were my "Hinge" journal
featured here :   HERE

Now it's time to share the Journal I made for being chosen Guest Designer. Lots of photos.

A page for front and back of crocheted doily... It's a soft fabric feeling paper in a special paper pack from craft store.

Bits of tea dyed lace  and a kraft paper embossed and distressed ink applied to the top
This cute little quilt square seemed cute to see the reverse below
I added a button to it  and the pumpkin die cut opens for notes (cardboard painted orange)
Die cut leaf pocket and copy paper embossed and distressed ink applied
Die cut leaves and kraft paper with white gesso applied
Stamped wreath opens for notes, distressed leaf.  Coffee dyed paper
More coffee dyed paper with ridges  and corrugated cardboard torn for the layered effect
3 tags for reverse notes

Open weave jute makes a page and sweet signs of fall

Welcome, it's another Whats On Your Workdesk Wednesday.  How quickly a week goes by.
Visit Ms Julia HERE for more info and to visit others sharing their crafty works.

I did have some time to spend in my crafty space this week. My desk:
The beautiful decorated envelopes came in the mail from an order on etsy. Just some gorgeous designs she makes.  I am working on a small paper journal with birthday wishes in it for a friend who recently lost her husband a week ago. It was a hard week. I also had a friend who took her own life  and  mother has serious issues from her stroke.  But I think I have things handled a bit better and doing "one day at a time"

Later today I will post my Junk Journal for being the Guest Designer this month. A total surprise, I only entered the "Hinge" journal in the Challenge to win some paints......surpassing a new journal better than the metal one has been much more of a Challenge. Being "NEW" to making journals I've a Lot to learn.
Our roads are now usable. we were hit with 3 inches of snow and it turned to ice on our blacktop for the past 3 days. A warm up is in order for Thanksgiving Day.  We have no set plans as yet, but I do wish You and Yours a very Happy Thanksgiving Day. Hoping you can be with family and friends.

We are not the Black Friday shoppers, but I may order some things online and miss the crowds. And of course it might be the time to work with Christmas decorating.

ReCycling Tin Lids

Welcome, this post is about making a few embellishments from tin lids.
We were using Cat Food with a pull tab lid. Some flavors had green lids, some silver and some orange.

I made a pumpkin out of an orange one :
The mesh wire to the left is from a used furnace filter. I just cut it away from the cardboard frame.
I cut an orange scalloped circle with a Spellbinders die the size of the lid from orange cardstock to place over the orange lid. I gathered the mesh wire over the top and placed the edges on the backside. This handy scissors cuts thru most items.
I used jute to cover the tab and curled some green wire around a pencil to make the swiggly vine.
I cut some ATC sized cardboard and painted some orange. Top with the metal pumpkin. I will be using one of these as a topper on my Junk Journal coming up soon.
I cut the leaf out using my Sizzix die and embossed the silver with an embossing folder.and my big shot.

Here were a few silver lids embossed with various folders and a star. The furnace filter is in the background.  Just enough mesh wire for small projects.  I am sure there are many other uses for it.
Hope you were inspired just a bit and find new things for new uses.   Thanks for stopping by

My Tea/Coffee Dyed Papers

Welcome, so glad you stopped by. A cold sunny day here with expected snow tonight!  While coping with outdoor weather issues I have been revamping my crafty space and making Tea/Coffee dyed papers.

A  month ago I made a post on Tea/Coffee dyed packaging paper outside. But my inside creations are much different. A lot more work.  Much more clean up.

I store my dark coffee and tea to use in separate containers in the fridge.

Some of the patterned oven pans used to create markings on the papers.  I put the coffee/tea in a cake pan, pull copy paper thru the liquid and lay on top of one of the above detailed pans. These are placed in a 300 degree oven and "Watched" until they are almost dried.

Then I carefully remove them, place them on a counter/table to dry.  Some iron them to smooth out, I just clipped them together by tea/coffee with a clothes pin  This time the coffee were lighter color than the tea.  You never know how they will turn out. It is always a fun adventure to create and see your results.  Playing if the name of the game.  I used regular coffee, but the instant coffee  can give a darker color. I just didn't have any on hand.

The patterns are all different, depending on the pan used

I like the variance of colors.  Just stash and use as needed.
You can use any type of paper item to dye and use .newspaper, envelopes, book pages etc.. I did lace and fabric long ago and never photoed the process.  But the results were awesome.  Ribbon, lace, linen, batting, different weaves of old.

Thank you for stopping by, I hope you enjoyed the process  and give it a try if you are Junk Journal Junkie or a Paper/Fabric crafter.  I haven't attempted doing Videos as yet.
