WOYWW #604

Welcome to my blogpost on another Wednesday.  Our gathering  is HERE can take you all over the world with desks being shared, comradery at it's best.

We had 3 inches of snow yesterday and it was no doubt the lowest in the state. Southern Iowa was hit with 8 to 13 inches. And this morning the winds are blowing.  Still dark, but I bet it's all a pretty sight out there.

My Desk:

and relearning the new blogger symbols. I swear I am too old for all of this.  I don't have the patience.

Remains of a thorough sort thru of Christmas card making and holiday supplies  WHEW!!

I plan to keep in the area of my craft space so I can work on it between now and January. I had it all in a 5 drawer chest and rarely have time when the holidays come to work with any of it.  Ideas of a room makeover, but I seem to do more of that then actual creating.

Wishing you all the very best.  Thanks so much for all the visits last week.  We spent Christmas alone, but he always makes it special.  I think in my life time it was the first Christmas meal with no dressing or cranberries.  He wanted steak, so I went with it. I am attempting a Pumpkin pie yet this morning.  PIE is not something  I've made many of   I LOVE IT, story another day.

Stay Safe and Enjoy each day.

My desk: The Reason we're here !
I gathered my supplies sometime ago and will continue to make more of these, Another box I found stashed away in our storage room...A real shopping room here at home during this pandemic.

Another" little treasure"  DH brought these in from a mulberry tree branch that was torn off in the wind.  Hopefully to make a tiny hole for ribbon and use in various ways after the holidays
The Reason he is so special:

We always go here during the week.  In normal times there is a waiting line for hourson the weekend.  They even have a tiny unique building you can wait in and enjoy a few drinks. But things now are different.  Not as many people and lots of restrictions.  But the food and service are the very best.

WOYWW #602

Welcome, this is a little late start for me this morning,  The day we share our desks, with more info HERE

My desk:

working on little pine cones, some tiny pop lids, and gathering ideas for a Santa journal. While cleaning out (SHOPPING in my STORAGE AREA)  I found several containers I had put on top of a cupboard, and to my surprise it was all Christmas stored away a few years back?   Anyway was a fun find right here at home. Now to get a late start using it.
I haven't had much computer time, had lots of organizing of addresses to labels,( so many people have moved) (must be an age downsizing etc) (and younger ones needing more space for home offices, schooling for the kids)   Christmas cards and envelopes to prepare and our Christmas letter...Mailed 1/2 today with an Early morning trip for groceries and supplies. Also had shopping last week and packages to prepare for mailing yesterday.
NOTHING I dread worse than wrapping gifts and mailing packages.  NOTHING.

Here's to "Good Health", "Safe Surroundings"  and "Sanity"   Thanks for stopping by.

WOYWW #601

Welcome, it's gonna be an awesome weather day 50's in December and as yet no wind !!!  I am excited. Outdoor time seems important during this pandemic.

It was so fun to see those of you who partook in the great Chat group on Saturday. I would make the early effort to visit  Again thanking our Hostess and you can visit her HERE for this weeks fun on WOYWW.

My desk:  the floor and the kitchen stove for this project

Packing paper...I had saved Avocado Skins/Seeds that I boiled and obtained a pink color, so I dyed these papers. A perfect day to dry outside with sun and no wind.  I'll use papers in paper projects.  The color really didn't show up too well here,
In a prior post I had shown old tattered canvas that my husband was discarding and I salvaged to use in journal making.

Some of the layouts pending...wondering if  a little glue/gesso then slow stitching with dark tattered threads.  "PENDING" ....
Larger one may be a pocket wall hanging.

I've so many things "Pending" and need to do Christmas letter today and get some packages ready for mailing.  Will make a trip today to finalize things for the grandkids in NJ.

Bailey knows my every step ...Just as I wanted to move my computer to the desk area Saturday for our visit he decided to take refuge on the top of the printer !

May you all have a happy week, staying safe, and enjoying all that you love.

WOYWW #600

CONGRATULATIONS  JULIA  ON #600 ..
Have enjoyed every minute of being involved with this group.  I do regret the distance between, as I would love to meet all of you and visit your crops.   Carry on.

Welcome !  So long I've been MIA, just didn't have the MoJo to get involved with too many things.
We are well and trying to Stay Safe and cope with results of  Covid's mess.

Partaking in Julia's weekly sharing of What's On Your Workspace Wednesday WOYWW...and anyone can partake, just go to HERE to share yours, or to visit all the ones sharing by Mr. Linky.

My Desk:

Most of the items were an online purchase, that I have not yet used. It's just the way to get items I have no access to in our area.  I was going to order the tab punch and thought I had one. Well I found it on a shelf above my desk. WHEW!!!!! I don't need duplicates for sure.

I have a couple of posts below and after viewing ideas, I think I'll cut some of the branches and fill a cream can, after if my DH can get the lid off and maybe repaint.
The post on the canvas I've also been dabbling with. So maybe in another week I'll have some new accomplishments.

I did put away all fall decor Sunday and in the process of sorting Christmas. I the mood to downsize and hoping the thrift shops are taking things.

Our Iowa weather has been wonderful. Lots of sun, temps 35/50 and most days no wind.  I noticed I still have little viola's flowering under the deck. I try to go outdoors each day

Anxious to visit,  (some eye issues) so will hope for the best. Stay Save, enjoy each day

Deciding

Welcome, it's been awhile.  Caught up in the midst of staying home, being careful. Not always the easiest to post when good vibes are not there.  I've Halloween put away, left up some fall foliage and a few turkey's for the Thanksgiving holiday, but the urge to start with Christmas decor is about to happen.

I have been working with the canvas I posted below...maybe a journal, a wall hanging,  hand stitching, just not sure yet.

We had some heavy ice a few weeks ago, I gathered up a few fallen branches that I thought might good for leaving natural, or painting white, to use as décor to hang seasonal ornaments etc.

Seems quite big, I've small areas but it has lots of possibilities with so many small branches
Would be great on a porch.

Actually these 2 could be cut for vase like use...
Kind of think this one will work for slimness, and cutting off a small amount at the bottom.   Find a container to maybe fill with larger stones to keep it upright.    I think my DH  is wondering about me.
Maybe I'll just store until spring.  A bit cold out there today and temps dropping all the days forward.

Any of your ideas or suggestions could help me.    Stay Safe   Enjoy the weekend

PERFECT FIND

Welcome:

I was in disbelief when I took a walk to see what my DH was doing in his shop.
Well it's 70 some degrees the past few days and he was outside working on organizing some disguarded metals.   He had an old cot and was cutting the fabric from the metal form.

I arrived just in time to gather up all the light weight canvas and have him tell me "you are totally out of your mind" !! !  And only you who  "create" Mixed Media paper/fabric designs would understand.

I was in AWE...no dying necessary, It was weather worn. His cutting it up had ragged edges! TRULY a PLUS in my book.
I brought it in and washed it up. Let it air dry and this is what I ended up with.

I taped it to an old wooden ironing board for display.  And my plans will be to use it in a fabric journal.
It even has stitching !!!!   I'd say it was my LUCKY DAY.  He's still shaking his head !!!

Thanks for stopping by,

OCTOBER CHALLENGE

Welcome, I completed my October challenge at  Birds Nest Books and Junk Journals a private group on Facebook. If interested you can join, The Admin and Hostess LeAnn makes it fun and there is a lot of inspiration from this group. Keeps me enjoying using my stash. The challenge  was to make the use of  the letters  O C T O B E R.

I started this way back Oct 3rd and just couldn't come up with the right process.  Lost my MoJo, on call for DH doing crops, special company from Wisconsin visiting and a few precious people dying.  So I
made  this tag:

"O "range flower, "C" chair, "T"twine/tag, "O" val necklace, "B"rown, "E"yes, #8, "R"ounded edges

But I wasn't happy with this and I wanted to make the Pumpkin shaped journal.....Ideas came, so here it is

First process was to cut the pumpkin from cardboard and paint orange and green for the stem
The Cover set up to show OCTOBER   and  "O" for orange
"C" for Cat/Crows and room for notes
"T" for Two Tags
"O" for Owl room for notes    "B" for  Beautiful Butterfly. The Brown Button up in the right hand corner is covering a mistake.  I punched the wrong side for the circle binder
"E" for Envelope and a stamp that has the Earth on it... The last letter "R" red leaf I gathered and the Robin.

THE END.     Thanks LeAnn, it was a fun process, once things started to click.  And "Thanks" for visiting and those precious comments.  Stay Safe and enjoy this last week of OCTOBER

WOYWW #592

Welcome, well I guess, I'm better late than never.  Totally forgot it was already Wednesday.

I just finished up putting 2 cars back together. On Monday I took EVERYTHING out of these vehicles  and wiped them down inside and vacuumed them.  I had 3 large boxes to sort. It is totally unbelievable what has made the car their home.  Then Tuesday my DH took mine to have it's oil changed  at 7 AM and I never got it back until 9 PM that night.  After a few phone calls  it made no difference I wasn't going anywhere but would have liked to have finished the job.   SO very early today I had sorted things out, disposed of most and replaced minimal items back inside.  We are now equipped for WINTER driving and trips here there and hopefully everywhere.

And HOORAY !!   he is on the last field of corn crops.  Has been exceptionally dry and beautiful harvest weather.  He will clean up equipment, store away for winter and then start with ripping/disking stocks and preparing harvested fields for winter. Will be lots of black ground.

Last Geranium Bloom was the biggest.   And the kohlrabi below is all that is left in the garden It will be picked and stored before a hard freeze.  Special kind (lasts forever !!!)

Have not spent any time at a crafty desk.  This was 2 piece set  25cent curtain toppers I picked up at a thrift shop.   I cut off the lace from the bottom

And will use it in  my crafting, and will use the fabric for making a slow stitch project later.
We have visitors from Wisconsin coming for a couple of days, so I must do a once over of the house and prepare a pumpkin desert, maybe make some soups or a crockpot meal

Want to be involved with WOYWW visits or sharing What's On Your Workspace Wednesday....you can do so by going  HERE    Have a beautiful week, Thanks for stopping by
