A Week that Was

Our weather has been worse this week than all of winter. 12 inches of heavy wet snow came through our area. We were fortunate, 18 just east of us 30 miles.  Icy roads, and high winds. but the good, we did not lose electricity for very long.

This photo was taken the day before the storm. The ground was just thawing and my DH was digging the hole for our cat Baxter, He made the coffin a few days after he died

Some detail on the box...and a small quilt inside that he laid on
                                                             Rest in Peace dear friend.

Below is our dining room window, all ice from the east side
early morning off our patio on the east side of our home
later in the day, the winds and snow kept coming, one big drift
In the distant men were framing up the barn, from the damage of winds a week ago, took out the top east side of this old barn. He uses it yet for baby calves, which will be soon arriving.
This was Tuesday. starting to put the white tin up.
This was later in the day DONE
And this young good looking man was our tragedy of the week. He was killed in an auto accident last Monday at the age of 44.  My sister is married to a Wingert and this was her nephew.
Needless to say our small community was saddened and stunned. Over 800 people attended the wake, and our huge church was full the next day for his services. His Dad raised 6 daughters and 2 sons as his wife died at the age of 39, with the youngest being 2. Just a wonderful family, who "live" life, support each other, the  community they live in, and give to others.
For friends away or anyone interested in Deon's  obit it is HERE..a teacher, a nurse  who touched many lives in beautiful ways.

WOYWW #460

Hi everyone, so glad you stopped by.  Today we share our work spaces over on Julia's BLOG,  I am so glad to be back to some normalcy.

My desk is in a working mess:
The photo of the desk for these below is GONE...Windows 10  doesn't load same day photos in same folders.  Can't find half my recent snaps.

Our 2 grand daughters on the east coast have birthdays in April, so I have gifts for all 3. Poor Summer would be devastated if I forgot her.  Now have to find a box and get them mailed. However the news report today was their military base had a package with a bomb delivered in the area. Someone inspected it so no one was hurt.  BUT this world of ours is a scary place.

Wooden tags for the girls...inside sunglasses...their favorite thing.
Little note cards for them on their gift of some jewlry

Little tags for them on their Tiara's

I will have another post within a day or so of our storm, our barn repair, burial, for those of you not on Facebook.  Have a wonderful week and I sure hope you are having SPRING.

WOYWW #458

Hi everyone, so glad to have you stop by. This is a scheduled post for our Wednesday WOYWW, over at Julia's blog Stamping Ground.  Celebrating our grandson's birthday and some time spent with them while they in joy a spring break.

Was a busy desk since last week, lots of fun cards.

 For my sister's birthday
 For our grandson..15years old
Will tuck a little money behind the wired heart and sign it on this the backside
 For a friend's 40th

Grandson will be getting a car, and Grandpa will have a little more cash inside card I made.

And this is the workspace        while I was making the Vintage car and below his tag
I love making tags and this was a fun one. A little inspiration on life

Thanks for stopping by, I'm mending..found out left arm has tennis elbow, have an arm brace and not so much pain while healing with it on.  Therapy includes stretching of my neck for compressed vertebrates, helping a lot,  bursitis in shoulder more on that next trip, now ice/heat/advil and  deep massage in the trap/muscle.  Good as new in a few weeks. !

WOYWW #457

Welcome, it's good to be back. Partaking in Julia's What's On Your Workdesk Wednesday over on her blog HERE.

Missed last week with lots of "Life" issues, got most of mother's things sorted out, clothes washed and sorted by season, household items etc are still scattered. But I've  been doing therapy each day for neck and shoulders. No doubt from all the loading and unloading that day.  Seems to be making no headway.  Cancelled Mon/Tues as we were having rain/ice/snow/wind storms.  So used "Tiger Balm"  found out about it in S. Korea when we visited . It worked well for an elbow that I hurt in a fall. I think it's helping.

My desk:

making a card for my niece's husband who is retiring from the military next week. I found this fun deck of playing cards. About Military Men/Presidents, but decided to leave it in tack. My son might like this, possibly some of his office staff involved. Tommy was at Camp David when President Busch was in office.

Standing in line for desk use, are 3 Birthdays, in a few days, a bridal shower, and Easter supplies.

Hope you all have a wonderful week. Thanks to everyone for stopping by 2 weeks ago and your supportive comments.  Mom seems to be doing well in her therapy, but speech is still a problem.
