Our weather has been worse this week than all of winter. 12 inches of heavy wet snow came through our area. We were fortunate, 18 just east of us 30 miles. Icy roads, and high winds. but the good, we did not lose electricity for very long.
This photo was taken the day before the storm. The ground was just thawing and my DH was digging the hole for our cat Baxter, He made the coffin a few days after he died
Some detail on the box...and a small quilt inside that he laid on
Rest in Peace dear friend.
Below is our dining room window, all ice from the east side
early morning off our patio on the east side of our home
later in the day, the winds and snow kept coming, one big drift
In the distant men were framing up the barn, from the damage of winds a week ago, took out the top east side of this old barn. He uses it yet for baby calves, which will be soon arriving.
This was Tuesday. starting to put the white tin up.
This was later in the day DONE
And this young good looking man was our tragedy of the week. He was killed in an auto accident last Monday at the age of 44. My sister is married to a Wingert and this was her nephew.
Needless to say our small community was saddened and stunned. Over 800 people attended the wake, and our huge church was full the next day for his services. His Dad raised 6 daughters and 2 sons as his wife died at the age of 39, with the youngest being 2. Just a wonderful family, who "live" life, support each other, the community they live in, and give to others.
For friends away or anyone interested in Deon's obit it is HERE..a teacher, a nurse who touched many lives in beautiful ways.
