Memories and Pictures of my Parents 3 Story Victorian Home

It is with a heavy heart but we have listed my parents 3 story Victorian Home with a realtor. It needs to go to a good family, who will enjoy it before it starts to wither away with the absence of  love and  laughter, great food, daily living and fun times with friends, family and wonderful neighbors,

West Entry

The south view below

Little Brick garage with a shop in back

South view and the entry we usually used

The West Entry

 Open stairway detail
Entry from the West side of the home
Fireplace

 Entry door from the South
 Bedroom on Main floor
 4 sets of pocket doors
 Beveled window up the stairway
Stained glass in the west entry     There are 5 sets of 2  stained glass on the 3rd floor will try to post, my batteries ran out
West Entry doors.

This unit came from our farm kitchen.. It was the original part of my grandmothers kitchen. It opened in the kitchen and  it also opens on the back side which was in our pantry

Still in the garage, my dad's pride and joy. a 1966 FORD pickup he and my brother picked out. The camper was enjoyed on many a camping trip. Dad enjoyed nice cars and trucks.

And planting flowers, shrubs and keeping his lawn lush.  He has 2 of these Weigela  bushes
Evergreens on the front lawn facing west.  I missed the poppies, lilac trees, and peony's blooming. But we did use the rhubarb, and asparagus.

Many Hosta planted around the area also.  I will try to get one picture of a HUGE tree in the front yard.
Upstairs are LARGE rooms  North bedroom
Hall looking into the bathroom and far door a small sun porch
 The bathtub
 Old sink and medicine cabinet
a gate, and looking down steep steps leading into the kitchen (which no photos of a battery thing) downstairs, (for maids usage?) Mom never had the luxury of the first owner !! a Maid.  And for mother I think this had to require many hours of dusting, vacuuming, window washing and general maintenance. Never did I hear her complain. And it's hard to see her have tears about not being there. We can only hug her and remind her and ourselves, things change, life goes on and be thankful we had what we had. A Good Life Together.

This is a photo from a postcard my son found in Kansas, he bought it because of the addressee he thought was a friend of mine. Never did he realize this was the HOME of his Grandparents in IOWA.  It was taken in 1910.  The home was built in the early 1900's, it had a very ornate porch on the southwest corner  and unique carved posts on the south entry way.   I remember as a little girl, my grandparents lived 3 houses south of this mansion and I would walk to the store for my grandmother's need of a few grocery items.  I hated walking by this place. A very elderly lady would always be sitting on that porch in an old rocking chair and it made me afraid.

Now  when my granddaughter visits, she gets out of the car, throws her arms up and says "WOW, this is like a princess house grandma,"  I never lived in this home, I left our home on the farm in 1964. Mom and Dad moved into town when land rent too high and bought this home in the early 70's. But this is where I and my sons loved visiting when we had summer time, birthdays, holidays, and any other reason we might want to come "HOME" to grandparents love.  Memories...tears...and  the thankfulness of having a "Happy, Loving, Family".

Thanks for stopping by and for all my blogging friends thanks so much  the lovely, encouraging comments you have left during this difficult time.

It's #212 at WOYWW

Just in time, almost off to bed and I see where Ms.Julia at the Stamping Ground posted early for our Wednesday showing of the workspaces.  So if I do it now, I will have a chance to participate, as early AM  I'm off to empty my van of  leftover stuff  to our local donation drop. My parents home was listed with a realty company so this "STUFF" had to go. Now lets hope the house will sell soon.

Haven't had too much time to create, but I went mad one night with EBAY purchases. It was like a therapy thing.
Some frozen Charolette dolls, and lace, lots of lace.  Doing some fabric journals and found some good     prices.

One week ago today we admitted my father in law to the local nursing home. He was in an apt and at age 96 starting to have some confusion and not wanting to be alone. He had fallen a few times and for safety sake this was the best  move.  Tues and Sunday hubby and siblings cleaned out his apt and so we have been trying to make room or rearrange for a few antiques he had.   We are hoping for some normalcy to our time and lives. It has been stressful and busy, keeping up with both families issues. But we are thankful and our weather returning to normal conditions has made us smile.  GOOD OLE' SUNSHINE ! !

Thanks for stopping by, have a wonderful week.

WOYWW #210

Happy #210 WOYWW, a gathering of bloggers who love to share and peep about others workdesks. Started by Ms. Julia of the STAMPING GROUND. Two weeks ago we celebrated 4 yrs of this and exchanged ATC cards.

Jo/Twiglet and I exchanged: Hers is the felted wool, something so beautiful and unusual, with a cute little note card.
This ATC is from Vicky, A cute little cat, wishing me to "Have a Purrfic Day"" Vicky sent a cute little card also, but my batteries are all expired as I post this.
Thanks Vicky and Jo:  I have a special place for my ATC cards and I will add them to the grouping.

I was exchanging with a few others, but so far have not received them. One never knows with the mail system. ! !

My desk this week:
The remains of making a group of Sympathy cards to have on hand.

The photos are not so good. We have no sunshine here and my batteries were about to be exhausted.
The forecast is for Sunshine and 85 degree temps. Something we have not had for a LONG, LONG time.
I had 2 days this week that my furnace was running, and the wind is cold and damp. So this will be a great change for us.

Thanks for stopping by, enjoy your WOYWW visits and have a fun week.

A Great Week for MAIL.

I was lucky enough to win one of Judy's creations.  I love her blog and all the wonderful designs she comes up with. This is her spot:  JUDY'S FABRICATIONS but her last posting was quite sad. She's taking a break, closing her blog and  so I'm hoping she'll miss blogworld and return real soon. She has truly a great design talent and a good heart. And I am glad I got to share some of it as of late.

This photo really doesn't do this "Adorable Little Lady" justice.  But she is beautiful ! !

I love Crazy Quilting. Look at this detail. I couldn't be more excited about this win. The colors match my bedroom and I have a perfect spot for this lovely treasure.  Thank you so much Judy and I hope you enjoy your adventures. We will miss you.

Monday, Monday,  hoping to get my computer things caught up early so I can CREATE!!!  Had lots of time to reorganize and the desk is calling.  Wanted to share our Fern Peonies in between rains.

This is one of the older blooms. Our rain is hard on them

Their green foliage is fine and delicate, like a fern. And I should have taken the picture after weeding!!, but the sun only lasts 1/2 hr and then it rains.

Have a fun day and thanks for stopping by

IT'S ATC EXCHANGE AT WOYWW4

Well the time is here 4 years Ms. Julia has gotten more and more bloggers to share their workspace. Each Wednesday  it's WOYWW..  (What's On Your Workdesk Wednesday..) and because it has been four years she is having an ATC Exchange once again.

My desk has a few ready to be sent off, hidden of course under the colorful cards. I made several ahead of time and stored them in my tiny Lone Ranger lunch box for safe keeping.   If anyone wants to exchange I've a few left to exchange.  Just make a comment below.

If you need more info you can stop over to  Julia's  STAMPING GROUND  blog and share in the fun.

I've been MIA,  but
I think my LIFE is returning to somewhat normal.  Settled the 2 garage sales out well 2 wks ago,
plus Mother's Day and time with my brother who was visiting to help out.

This week spent a few days with family, my only living Aunt died and we had the wake and funeral Friday and Saturday. She was 96 and had a very good life. Was so good to see all of her 9 kids and their families, as most live away from our local.  Mother and Dad were doing well so they were able to attend also.

Then I had my husbands birthday this Saturday and my granddaughters 8th on Sunday. We went to visit and had a lot of fun despite our weather.  RAIN, RAIN, RAIN.  the State of Iowa is under water. Our fields all have huge ponds. If it's planted, it's in water, If it's not planted, it no doubt won't get planted. Sad state of affairs.

Thanks for stopping by, have fun with your ATC exchanges. And I hope we all post them next week to see the unique designs.  I love ATC's... quick, simple and fun to put together. Have a great week.
