Wonderful Christmas Present

It's snowing, almost 6 inches on the ground..but I am so happy, my dad was able to come home for Christmas. (He had hip replacement Dec 10th and at 88 it was a challenge for us, not him he had a lot of faith all would be ok.)   He is doing very well and so glad to be home.
So have lots of things yet to do to be ready for the festivities. Just want to wish you and yours
"A VERY MERRY CHRISTMAS"   and "VERY BEST WISHES" for "A HAPPY NEW YEAR"

Quick Post & a Few Pictures

It's early, but haven't had much time. My dad had a successful hip replacement Friday and was to be moved Tues to a hospital closer for his therapy, but they are now monitoring his heart. He's a trooper, 88 yrs old and was out walking Friday evening and many times each day since.

Had Mother spend an afternoon with me, catching up on internet pictures, video's of my grandkids. Blogs and pictures of her other great grandchildren.  She is enjoying her time of peace and quiet, but said she sure misses Dad in his chair. She's been a self made Nurse for 6 months of this ordeal and it has taken its toll on her.  They celebrated 65yrs of marriage in June.  We'll take her for Pizza and beer one of these nights, it is her favorite.

Needless to say with the holidays, several family birthdays, blogland is only in my thoughts. Miss it all terribly and wanted so much to make a lot of my cards this year.  I did get a Christmas Letter done and far away ones were mailed.   Working on cards, ornaments for nieces, nephews and their precious little ones.

Most of my shopping was done the 1st of Dec, wrapped and mailed to my military son. And made sure to get cards off to all our friends in foreign places serving our country.  They are always in our thoughts and prayers.  But the holidays are a real sacriface for all the family here at home too.

My husbands been so much help also, but Sunday & Monday he spent his time cleaning here on the farm and many of the drives in town. Moving 6/8 inches of wind  (50 MPH )blown snow from Saturday's storm.  We still don't have the Sunday paper, but were not without electricity too long.
Blacktops are still icey and today....more snow..

Wish you all well,  the time is just flying by..hope to be back before Christmas. Thanks for stopping by.
Baxter & Bailey getting ready to take a nap!!!!!!!!!!!!

Grandkids: Camryn, Cael, Cash with new puppy Harley
This family is exactly like the "Marley & Me" Movie

This is Sky Lynn...she's standing alone, dancing to the beat of music and DaDaDaDaDa while clapping her hands..

Many, Many Things To Be THANKFUL For.
God Bless

Back in Iowa

Haven't posted for a while.  Most things are really good, I just don't know where the time goes.
My husband and I went to visit my son and family in Atlanta, Ga. What a perfect time to go. The full colors of fall were so enchanting. The weather was perfect mid 70's and I enjoyed a very relaxing time.
I wanted to add some pictures but something has changed with the FB Insert Image and it takes sooooooooooooo long to download...Why mess with something when it works?  Disgusting. Will try that later and more info on the trip.   IT WAS JUST SO ENJOYABLE.
Back to the airport on Sunday to 8 inches of snow!!!! Pretty but..cold.

I also had my brother come to spend a day with my parents. So thankful for that. He got all the winterizing done for them. Fall clean up jobs and took Dad to one more medical appt. We will get the results after Thanksgiving.   This has been an unbelievable 3 months.  Only 1 thing can be done at each appt.  2/3 Appts each week....and the diagnosis should have been done 6 months ago instead of making him take meds to kill the pain.  It is an hour drive to and an hour drive home and for someone in pain while walking or getting into a car, just not a good situation at all, much less me in traffic 2 hrs each day.  And they wonder why medicare has no money....each stop gets their share.

I have my Halloween decor packed up, left a few fall things til after Thanksgiving, but started to organize the Christmas things.  I totally redo the house..pack away pictures, some curtains, it is a great way to clean!!!!!!!!!!   and set up a few more big trees.  I have a few small trees I leave up year round for the lights and seasonally redecorate them.

So must get busy...We are having an Open House  94th birthday party for my father in law on Sunday at our local Pub/Cafe  and kinda make it that side of the family's Thanksgiving also.
He still lives in an apt close by main street, still walks 2/3 times a day, and visits the local Pub a couple times a week to get caught up on local news, but walks to Mass each day it is offered.
He's excited to see all his little Great Grandkids again too.

Enjoy the weekend...Thanks for stopping by...Hopefully back to my card making next week, I got 5 awesome Creative Books in Atlanta and some great inspiration....so excited to get back to my favorite thing to do.

Even my signature disappeared... maybe I'm gone and don't know it.

A Day to Rest

Just returned home from helping with our church circles Sunday Breakfast. Homemade hashbrowns, sausage, scrambled eggs, toast. Choice of a roll or muffin, coffee, juice or milk $6.00.
Small town living...
Had a beautiful morning, changed back to Standard Time so that helped the 7 AM check in time.

No cards this time...was a busy week.  My 96 yr old Aunt passed away unexpectedly so one night, we attended a wake and prayer service and Saturday the funeral.  The good thing was she had truly lived a wonderful, full life, always busy and usually always helping her church and community.  A farm girl all her life, a country school teacher, a mother of 2 sons, and when my uncle died 34yrs ago she remained on the farm and kept it in tip top shape. She always was baking and sharing her goodies.
We got to visit with many relatives and friends from Arizona, Florida, N. & S. Dakota, Minnesota, Illinois and all parts of Iowa. Will always miss her, but she is no doubt enjoying a Family Reunion in Heaven and truly at Peace.

I also had a good friend, die of lung cancer last week and her husband died suddenly a few days before. They were not that old, and she was always so full of life...had the cutest little Antique Shop in Czech Village a few years back, so will miss the well wishes at Christmas, but will have the fondest memories of our fun times.

Lots to do this week...Will find out more on my Dad's tests and see if he can have the hip replacement.  So will be back with some more creations and excitement at a later date. Have lots of paper work to catch up on. And so real excitement around the corner.  Stay Tuned.

Thanks for stopping by and have a great week...I know I will..

Some Quiet Time

I have unhooked the main phone, so many political calls, and decided today was for me. The weather has settled down a bit, still quite cold, only 45..but after 2 days of our 40/50/60 MPH, and rain, we have a calmer forcast and the sun is out. Hipp, Hipp, Hooray.

My tag today  (could be a door hanger) was created by using a dark olive mat board, distressed with TH distressing tool, a scrap of varigated green, remenants of Labels Two, a MS round the corner punch in eggplant, grape or whatever tends to be, a chipboard from my scraps a top. The homemade flower is pages from an "Old Book"  cut with Spellbinders Flower Creations Three. Which also created the felt leaves back of the "Old Felted Wool" pumpkin heart. The doily heart came from Mother's stash (she is cleaning out and gave me a few "Older" things) The memo pin pierceing the adage "Love" ticket are both Tim Holtz. The button is old, the fibers at the bottom have a little metal sentiment "delight" which you can hardly see from the photo. All are from my little treasure chest.

I have entered this into the following challenges:
Paper, Scissors and SuperHeros  Betsy's Blog is having  "A Vintage Item", challenge,  you need to stop over, she has a delightful blog and has so very many beautiful things. Just a very pleasant experience.  My VINTAGE ITEMS  Felted Wool Heart, Doily Heart,  Flower Book Pages,

Gingersnaps Creations GC 76 Color Challenge, Pumpkin, Eggplant, Avocado

Color Q

The Crazy Challenge  CCH38   Tons of Shapes
Incy Wincy Designs   Challenge #65  Lace & Pearls
Simon Says Challenge  Punch 'em
Little Red Wagon  LRW #51 Hearts
Our Vintage Affair Vintage/Shabby Chic Door Hanger

So if you have some time drop over to any of these, they really have some great inspirations and lots of fun things to peep at...
Thanks for stopping by, I always love to read the comments. Have a wonderful weekend, we are to have some nice days so must bring all of my outside decor in before the snow flies. Always hate to see the closing of fall it is such a grand time of the year.

Blessings Always Sent Your Way

Dusting, Collecting,

This dusting has got me into all kinds of ways to stop and go the Lights, Camera, Action thing.

I have collections of a LOT of things.  This time of year I bring out my collections of Witches.

These 3 are the Fun Ones

These were made by real Special Artists........................................$$

.........The Colored Witch I made in the 70's in Ceramics

to the left the tall one would be my oldest
made it for my son who is 33 for his 1st Halloween

My purchase this month at an fund raising auction for a couple who both were fighting cancer. She's doing better and he lost his battle.
I try only to buy 1 each year, dated no, regrets yes..well back to dusting.
I don't think I have space to do this for my Chrismas collections.

My laundry room is next and that is full of Raggedy Ann's & Andy's .
Thanks for stopping by and enjoy the season.

Walking thru the Fields

I was dusting and got way laid..interupted...to reminisce a bit. Camera, action and a short story.

This greeting card was given to me by my wonderful younger sister, many years ago. I keep things a long time!!!! (heehee)  But the little person in this picture, resembles a memory of my childhood. In my mind,I looked just like this little girl.  The blonde hair and venturing off into who knows where and gathering things along the way.  Safety was never an issue...I never thought of any harm, or being lost. I just liked to do my thing..whatever I could venture out to do.

The year my sister gave it to me, it looked just like either of her two daughters.
And today it could resemble my granddaughter, or my nieces 2 little girls. But I wonder if any of them will ever have the opportunity to just wonder off  and enjoy the peace of nature and truly be safe in doing so. Our world has changed so much and the adventures are not the same.

I think this year before I pack this little treasure away, I will frame her and add a date.
I truly think that cards, if you are one to keep them should be dated.  The years fly by so fast and one forgets how long it's really been around.

Thanks for stopping by, hope you enjoyed my bit of trivia.. but I best get back to dusting.....

Sunshine??? and Special Kids

It's been awhile..we finally got a great rain shower yesterday and today it is just dark and gloomy.
Hasn't helped my energy level at all..I'm just slow today..Have Tues & Wed. medical appts for Dad again but they are at a hospital close to us, so won't be the drive I've had the other weeks.

I did get a great surprise with some pictures from my daughter in law's and it sure made my day.

They are Cael 7yrs, Camryn 5 yrs and Cash 2yrs and I would bet that their Dad has a LOT to do with Carving these pumpkins.
It was his favorite holiday and he always loved the carving of his pumpkins...oh how I miss those days.
Young mothers enjoy your time with your little ones, make it always fun, be involved in their life, other things can wait. When they grow up and move on your life will change forever.
I was truly blessed to have been able to be at home with my 2 sons until they started school.

This is their new addition. A Brittany Spaniel named Harley...I don't know if you ever saw the movie "Marley and Me"  well this household is that family over and over again!!!!! True fun and true busyness.    Cami played boys football, and she is the one who truly wants to spend time with her Farm Grandpa..is going to be "IRON MAN" for Halloween. Only wish they lived closer to us. But they love to talk on the phone.

The Brittany "Dakotah" which was their dad's since high school and stayed with me until he got a house 7 yrs ago had to go to Doggie Heaven a few months back, so Harley is a whole new adventure.. The Brittany's are the most loving and people friendly dogs I've been around. I will always miss Dakotah, we were thru a lot together. He kept me in shape, running and walking 2x each day.  Provided lots of fun while I was alone.

This little bundle of joy is Sky Lynn, 6 month old of my military son. She continually has a smile..Loves everyone and everything.  She has already done her share of traveling, So. Korea, Phillipines, Japan, and many states in the US.  Holidays are coming so may get to see her once again.. Wish she was closer also.

Well, I've rambled on long enough. Time to get the Mojo going and get busy.   Thanks for stopping by. I hope your week is great in every way.
Our tempatures are to drop from the 60's today to 40's tomorrow.  Not ready for that.

Time for Family

Missing so much fun on lots of good challenges, but just no time to participate. Dealing with some medical trips for my dad 2 days each week out of the past few weeks.
Just seems to zap me when I get home.  And my organization has fallen by the wayside.
And somehow, my neck and shoulders are  just giving me fits.

Our weather is still wonderful...and makes for beautiful drives to and from. And I treasure the time I have with both Mom and Dad. I am one of few at my age to still have both parents. So I am Blesssed.

Most farm fields are bare of crops and turning to the black dirt as the farmers do their tillage.
Most leaves have fallen, and we are in need of rain.

Thanks for stopping by, should be back to almost normal after next week.
Seems the weekends are full of church festivals, breakfasts, craft and bake sales.
Have a few Halloween cards to do for my grandchildren so have to "MAKE" time to do that.

Keep in mind,  if we have our health we have a LOT to be thankful for.
Don't like this getting dark so early.

Bless you.

The Witch Is In...

Love this "THE WITCH IS IN"  in years past when I seemed to be a Type "A" personality...I had a REALLY BIG Broom and this saying on a sign and every once in a while when I really seemed to be kinda witchy, I'd set it out...just a warning....seemed to help me... and anyone in my path....those days are gone.
Life's too short.. but my card today  is a "Cute Witch", with Broom Ready...

Little Cute Witch is made with Spellbinders "Wonky Squares", "Mega Scalloped Oval" "Shapeabilities, Witches'Brew" the McGill Multi Tag Punch, Martha Stewart's "Bat" and "Spider Web" Punches , Fiskars "Star" Punch, some Black Glitter on a Spider Stamp. The Witch is In, sentiment just off my computer. I used the Tim Holtz distressing tool to rough up the edges of "This Old House" and some distressed ink here and there.
I made the face from a brown bag, scrunched it, added a brad for the nose, sparkle for the eyes and made the broom from a skewer and some twine.
The Copper Colored Ribbon at the top, the Triangle Button and Fibers for hair are from my stash.
The House pattern base was made from a pattern I found in a New Book  "In This House" found on a book sale. It is a unique book, "Altered Art Imagery and Collage Techniques." Lots of cute ideas.

I will enter "HER" in the following challenges:
The Shabby Tea Room  Week #30  Vintage Halloween
Caardvarks  Card based on the Crew's  (I followed "EVA" witch & house)
Fussy and Fancy Friday Challenge #21   Halloween
For Fun Challenges Something Bought and Never Used...would be MS. Bat & SpiderWeb Punches.
I put these away after I purchased a year ago, as I HATE Bats...but got a little brave and got them out this year...still gives me the creeps.
Simon Says Challenge  Halloween
Totally Gorjuss  Challenge #51  Not a Square
Something Completely Different Oct 1st Colors  Brown, Gold, Orange, (Shades of Autumn)

What a beautiful fall day here in Iowa.  Hoping my hubby gets his field tillage done and we can take a drive to the beautiful Mississippi. The Fall Colors should be perfect. My type "B" personality, says to take it easy, be thankful and enjoy each minute. So I think a "little drive" would be just in order.
Have a great week.

Thanks for stopping by and I truly appreciate all the comments and any suggestions you might have.

Happy Birthday Dad and Fall

This was made for my Dad's Birthday. A long time farmer, this is his Season. After he retired his big garden took the place of working in the fields with Fall Harvest. But his heart was always with farming. Watching Farmers drive by with the Big Wagons of Grain (here it's Corn or Beans)
taking it to the local Co-op Elevator to store or sell. It was hard to move from the farm and into our little town, but another Chapter ended and on to the next.  Conversations are always about Yield, Weather and is this year better than the past year?  The new technology, has the older generation amazed and  unfamiliar with what is really happening out there. BIG, BIG, BIG.  Better? I don't really think so.

Spellbinders Pumpkin, and Leaf dies were used, Cuttlebug EF's on the Pumpkin and Tag, Distressed Ink, some brown felt ribbon and a few fibers at the top. Inside the Pumpkin

has the Sentiment, Stampabilities "Happy Birthday", and Daily Bread's "Dad"
I know he'll enjoy it..at 88 anyone stopping by to spend some time and share a few memories is on the "GOOD PEOPLE" list.   Kinda sad though this year, he had problems taking care of all the garden products and decided it is time to plow it under...Tears and Work it is now turning to some beautiful thick grass and on to  another chapter of a "good life"  with less work.

I will enter this into the following Challenges:
Stamptacular Sunday   Challenge #78  "Seasons Change"
Color Challanenge Left

Stamp Something     Fall Colors
Craftalicious Challenge #9   Harvest Festival or Autumn
Tuesday Taggers   It takes all Sorts--Anything Goes

We are having a beautiful fall day...color changes taking place, leaves rustling in the breeze and my visit with Dad to day...."there's a chill in the evening air, and getting dark much earlier" .
Enjoy each minute...be thankful for what you have, and tell someone you love them each day.

Thanks for stopping by

I hope that headache is over, things seem to be working better, but sometimes I have no access to the CD Rom / DVD or my USB drives .  Did a good cleaning so maybe that will help..

Enjoy what is left of our week. Heavy Rain here all thru the night. Another Harvest Nightmare.
