WOYWW #450

Hi everyone. Wish me luck, my main computer is having issues "driver updates needed" Windows 8.1 and they want me to update to W10.  but...so I'm trying this on a laptop which is Windows 10 and I don't use this much unless we travel. Now having issues loading photos.
Headache #3 and it's only 10 AM. Will schedule this as I surely don't know if it will be available Wednesday for posting  High winds again  was a -32 with wind chills and a warm up scheduled for late Wednesday.

Visit HERE for the hostess blog on visiting more or playing along.  As it is a Wednesday  for visiting.

That worked but so far not photos from my camera.
Used my phone for same photos..yeah ! .a collection of OLD 1922 and forward Valentines I bought at an auction.

Working with this mini journal, made from a junior mint box, some pretty papers for the cover, Martha's punches, and binding supplies.

A few Valentine supplies, as I was working on ideas for grand kids. A few pages I stamped with a Bird theme on my desk for the journal.  When I went to bind them I totally spaced off the fact that I needed to do the back side also, so now the bird images and the words are now not in order. Oh well, my 1st try at this paper journal thing.  I have done a fabric one a few years back for my sister's 40th Anniversay and it seems much simpler.

Will play with Windows 10 as I guess I have no choice. Any suggestions on home computer ?  update to 10 or buy a new system?  using Windows 8.1  as camera, printers are compatible.  I really don't have a lot of cash to shell out for new equipment again. Thanks for bearing with me.

Have a wonderful week   Hope to visit if things here are all working.

Just minutes after I scheduled this  we lost our special cat Baxter...a post  Here  on our loss

I’m no computer expert sorry but I do wish you lots of luck with your problems. They are wonderful when they are working aren’t they? Well done you with all the valentine crafting.

Dear Sylvia, I chuckled when I read this post, because it reminded me of a dear uncle who used to say "Machines don't like me", always having problems with computers and the like. I'm afraid that one day you will have to get a new computer, because microsoft does a good job in providing us with new stuff every year, so we need better computers to do the job well, so they can sell us new stuff again. You don't have to upgrade to windows 10 just yet, I think. My mom's computer still runs on 8.1 as well. Her computer won't allow for windows 10.
I'm so happy to see you working on a journal, Sylvia! I love making journals :) And what a wonderful find those old valentines are! Big hugs to you, xx

So sorry to hear about Baxter! I also struggle with windows 10 and sometimes I just feel it is way over my head. I think I spy one of my creations on your desk this morning. That makes me feel good! Stay warm and good luck on your journals!

My hubby says 8.1 is ok, he doesn't like Windows 10 at all. Those Valentines cards are just lovely, I'm so glad you rescued them from the Auction. -32 sounds blooming cold, I really hope the warm up comes soon for you. I'm so sorry about your cat, I left a message in your previous post.

I must admit that once I got WIndows 10 installed I haven't had any major issues with it (and I upgraded early on). I haven't had any issues with peripherals, but I just use an SD card for uploading photos rather than linking my camera up. Love that stash of Valentines you got at auction. Have a good week. Afternoon Sylvia. Those valentine cards are great - you can have fun finding lots of uses for those! I don't use Windows 10 - I have windows XP. I don't have a lot of issues with it, although I know it is regarded as out of date - I dread to think how old my computer is, and it's my only one - I don't have a laptop or fancy phone/tablet/whatever - but I do have a USB connector lead for linking my SLR camera to upload photos. Any help? Probably not, as I don't have a lot of clue with computers..
Take care. God bless.

Sylvia, I LOVE that vintage Valentines stash! What a find! And I simply love that mini journal cover! Soooo pretty! Hate about your computer woes! I confess that I am NO tech help at all! I'm usually searching for help myself! LOL Many blessings for your computer update/buying journey...eeek! Have a great rest of the week! Felicia #31

Hi Sylvia, If I remember correctly, you can go on Microsofts website, and there is a link there somewhere- just use the search bar- which will run a check on all the hardware & software on your pc, and tell you if anything isn't compatible. But, if it ran ok in 8.1, it should run fine in Windows 10. There is plenty of driver support for pretty much anything now. We upgraded almost instantly- Hubby is a real tech geek, and I can honestly say we have never had a single problem with W10 at all. It really is better to upgrade as soon as you can, as support for older Operating Systems gets withdrawn after a time, so your online security isn't as good.
Like Sarah, I don't bother linking my camera, I just use the SD card in a card reader, that makes things much easier.
Have a lovely week, Hugs, Shaz #8 XxX

Hi Sylvia, I hate it when they change stuff but sure you will get used to it. It looks like you have a very busy desk today which is more fun than trying to sort the computer but you'll get there I'm sure. Have a great woyww, Angela x14x

when my old pc gave up I got this new one which came with Windows 10 installed... which I think is probably better than upgrading to it, from what I've heard... hope you get sorted soon. Love your desk! Helen #1

So sorry to hear about the loss of your cat, Baxter. It's tough to lose a beloved pet. I have been using Windows 10 since it came out and am pretty used to it now. Can't really advise you on what to do, though.

Sad news re your cat :-( . Love the Valentine cards. Cannot really help re computer issues. Usually ask my son, :-) , his field. He did advise us to do Windows 10 , I hate change but it was all fine. Anne x 15

Oh sad news about your cat - they become such precious little friends don't they. We are using Windows 10 on our new PC - it takes a bit of getting used too but so does everything these days!! xx Jo
