WOYWW #504

Welcome fellow deskers and anyone else popping in. This is a scheduled post, who knows how our weather will be on Wednesday the real day we share our desks.  Ms. Julia at the STAMPING GROUND is our hostess and she welcomes anyone who wants to play a long to join in.

I have enjoyed being held hostage inside. Found lots to do in the upside down crafty space I have.
Lordy, Lordy. too much is too much.  In the post following this, I made a "heart" for another challenge. And I should have taken a photo...lots of fun things on that desk.

This is the desk I'm working on, with messy fun stencils, paints/gesso, paper, cardboard and tags.

No dinner to prepare as DH went into town with the tractor to move drifts. 5 inches of snow and now 40 MPH winds blowing piles everywhere. Our forecast is high winds, and MINUS 30/40/50 degree wind chill for tonight and Wednesday. Everything has been cancelled for today and tomorrow. Even our four state colleges closed.  I've gathered water in containers, cleaned out under the sinks so if we have to leave the doors open to prevent pipes breaking things are in order.  My trusty soul prays that the animals outdoors have burrowed in for this dangerous ordeal.

May this find you all enjoying sunshine !  Happy WOYWW kind of day.

Vintage Valentine Challenge

Welcome,  with our wind and cold weather I've been enjoying inside projects. I came across a fun Challenge. Here at Frilly and Funkie Challenge Blog they are doing the "Vintage Valentine" challenge.  I've always loved hearts and Valentines are pretty special.

I gathered up my supplies after the Christmas holiday was over and did a bit of sorting. The design team member Maggi's idea: "For this challenge we want to see vintage valentines in vintage colors like pinks, blues, purples. No bright red please. Show us your vintage side with vintage colors and images"  So this is what I came up with:

I purchased 3 of these on a huge clearance sale for 50 cents last year. And I am trying to use up supplies. It has a  Chalkboard type front. Which I left as my back side on this project. I can use this to write a sentiment.

I covered the cardboard side with card stock,  distressed a doily, a scrap piece of corrugated cardboard, glittered the edges of the die shaped heart.  Cut a smaller heart, distressed with vintage photo ink and added the love birds.
A little "love" cutout, a few tiny flowers and made a stick pin.
Made a little yarn loop for hanging.

This measures about 5 in x 6 in. So will be  hand given no doubt to my Mother. Will look nice hanging in her room .  She was a crafty lady all her life and way ahead of her time with ideas.
So I know she appreciates the time and love put into this.

There are 5 more days to enter this challenge so have some fun and get creative.

Thanks for stopping by, enjoy a great week.

WOYWW #503

Welcome,  It's the day we share our desks.  Julia at the STAMPING GROUND hosts our gathering. Glad to be back.

My desk is a total disaster, but I am happy to have had some time to clear away December's theme and on to February's.

And a few cards I've put together.

It's bitter cold here.  -8   We are within only a 10 mile circle radius of missing 5 to 11 inches of Snow. We had about 3 but  35 mph winds blew it in drifts.  Roads are icy, and I am content to be at home where it's warm and cozy.

Thank you all for the well wishes, I am doing much better, just have a slower pace than I am use too.  But like hubby says "We are no spring chickens anymore "!!   Our minds think we are but the ole' body just isn't !!
Have a wonderful week and enjoy the happy WOYWW kind of day.
