#359 WOYWW

Special Greetings to You....I'm back, hadn't planned on being gone so long.  But grandchildren had sports events and a half day off school, so I went to visit.  Hubby was in the field at home so did not need me to transport him here and there. Something special about time with grand kids ! Plus I got two mornings of shopping in the city and had fun with their nice weather.

Here it is warm 75 or so, but the terrible winds have been around for more than 10 days and you cannot be outside too long. Dust, dirt and grit. And branches or twigs everyday to pick up.

I've also spent sometime sorting and either getting ready for a garage sale in May or just taking it to a donation place.  I have had to make several cards, have lots of birthdays, a wedding and 2 retirement parties.
I am in love with this little stitching book.  Cover is on the desk Crazy Quilt Stitches. Only 50 cents at a thrift shop.
The makings of a Wedding card.
 Inside view
Outside Cover of the Wedding Card

My daughter in law shares her birthday with her 8 year old son
This Ninja like paper doll has movable arms and legs and held some money within the card
 Ninja is his theme
He was happy with the inside, as these characters are his favorite.

So that about does it for today. Hoping I can post a few of the other cards later this week,
Julia at the STAMPING GROUND has all the info if you want to partake, either viewing others desk and sharing yours if you like.

Thanks for the visit and any comments you make. I always love reading them. Have a fantastic week.

WOYWW #356

Amazing, the last WOYWW post for March. Julia at the STAMPING GROUND is our hostess with the mostess.

I have a couple of photos from my creative space.
Had to do 2 quick retirement cards for parties this weekend. Inside of the One is for a retireee from the railroad, the cover is a big blue train  and the other 39 years with 3M..an active outdoors man..I cannot imagine working some place that long. I also have a classmate who just finished 50 years as a secretary for Snap On Tools. And she does't look 60.

This photo is a grouping of a prize as   I was  a winner of the Stampington March Publication of Somerset Studio and the Mixed Media Essentials Pack and Art Alchemy Paints through the Pinterest Pin contest..  Artist Finnabair created the cover of the Somerset Studio publication using her Prima brand paints  . Excited to try these products. And was excited to be a winner.

Thanks for stopping by, have a wonderful week. I'm sure SPRING is just around the corner.

WOYWW #355

Hello fellow deskers !  Seems another week has flown by and I've accomplished basically nothing.
At this point I am considering myself a "Dreamer".  My little head is full of ideas, my crafty space is full of supplies, dust adorns my treasures and I wonder about wondering why I've no MoJo.

The pink papers are something I made from beet juice. They dried nicely and have no smell !
Will make great background papers. So late ordering dies that were being discontinued arrived and I'll no doubt store them til next year as Easter is this weekend.  Spring is in the air but 4 to 7 inches of snow is forecast, or winds and ice. I'll settle for snow and a fast melt.

Thanking our great host Julia at the STAMPING GROUND, She makes it all happen.
In case I don't post my Easter Wishes,

                                                                  To You and Yours.

Thanks for stopping by.

Easter Rabbits

I've been rearranging today.  Got out a few of my Rabbits for Easter decorating.  I came across a blog Hudson's Holidays that inspired me for some  holiday decorating. Shirley always puts up a fun post. Has lots of patterns, graphics,  awesome embroidery work and great ideas on her blog and available for purchase.

A long time favorite wooden body base rabbit, with a white marble egg and a clear ornate egg.
A big double jointed rabbit takes care of the old chair
In my china closet a collection of small unusual rabbits.Peter Rabbit the tall right one was made by my son in 1st grade.
A family of Rabbits I made from tea dyed muslin and use to sell at craft boutiques.
An old family chair and a fun fluffy rabbit.

A dear older friend made these  little chicks for me when the kids were small. A crocheted chain wrapped around a Styrofoam egg

Ducks, tiny chicks, old childhood Easter basket, to the left rabbits that were my mothers and to the right, the bright colored mom and daughter were recently purchased at a craft fair.

Hoping we have green grass and sunshine this early Easter. As young girls, we always got to go shopping for a new Easter hat, spring shoes, a spring coat, sometimes gloves.
Time spent at Sunday mass and then off to Grandma's for a family Easter dinner.
One thing I have is a lot of good memories.

WOYWW #354

Welcome Happy WOYWW bloggers:  Julia at the STAMPING GROUND is our Host with our Wednesday adventure. She has all the info on her blog. And Thank YOU for stopping by.  Seems Wednesdays come around fast.

My desk has a few remaining watercolor items and a couple of new adult coloring book and colors. Hope to keep one with our vehicle as I wait in it when he's off for parts this spring season. A stack of red lid containers with "little treasures" for ATC's.  Kind of wondering about starting these for WOYWW anniversary exchange. Would like to have some done for the crop gathering this year.

Wanted to enlarge this photo but can't..(wondering why?).hoping you can by clicking on it. I almost had a breakdown on Monday.  I loaded some photos, and went to post them and ALL of my photo file was gone.
We had to go pick up some tractor tires so I decided to tackle the job on Tuesday AM and see what the problem was. I could still use the internet, seemed only the photo file was messed up.Came up with 8.1 having issues a "COM Surrogate is not responding"  Shut things down, went to bed with a prayer that I could find the answer. I have been trying to find a day I could sit and send photos to Shutterfly from our Germany trip and Washington DC vacation and make a booklet.  I was so worried.  I had a backup. But just the thought of spending time rebuilding was depressing. I slept well and  Tuesday AM I tried the system and Holy Moly it had everything in tack.

So later today Shutterfly here I come. May have to be tomorrow. We are having forecast of 60 MPH winds today so I may have to shut down in case of electric outages. 70 degree days and grass is turning green. But tornadoes have been in the area.

This photo is of a little Easter collage I gathered up.
The 2 little cloth bunnies are part of the days I did a lot of making stuffed animals. The metal wind up rabbit is from my childhood. My grandfather gave me this when I was about 4. Mr. Rabbit did pull a cart filled with green grass and candy eggs. but over the years that seemed to disappear. Not blaming my siblings but.  I left home many years before they did and they seemed like my toys were their treasures. Lucky to have survived with a very few.  The little wooden tulips were made my my dad. He loved to spend his spare time creating also.

Well thanks for visiting, I always love your comments. Have a wonderful week ahead and Happy Creating.

WOYWW #353

Welcome lovely bloggers, I did forget it was Wednesday the day we enjoy our host Julia at the
STAMPING GROUND  and the many who share their workspaces.

It's how I left it Tuesday...trying watercolor...letting it dry and I was off for the day. Some chips and salsa and a large Dos Equis beer with my DH..He had to make a quick trip for machinery parts before they closed for the day.  Asked if I'd want to share "Happy Hour"...of course to nice outdoors to be inside at home.  Enjoying capri's ,  sandals and 60 degree temps.

I made a quick birthday card for my grandson's 13th birthday

also got my windows washed inside and out....LIFE IS GOOD, and I'm loving the sunshine.

#352 WOYWW

Welcome, so glad you stopped by. I want to Thank all of you who left such supporting well wishes on my last blog.  It was a hard week, but with enlightenment. Friends gathered, friends supported and  on a very rare occasion got to meet the Bishop of our Diocese. He attended the funeral of our friend.

We left immediately after lunch to visit our grandchildren in Cedar Rapids.A good 3 days away.  My son coaches his 10 year old daughters basketball team. 5 games of tournament play. Southern Iowa had 70 degree temps and I was able to wear sandals and capris. Lunch at a Czech bakery and fun purchase shown in my desk photos. A shop who only sells resale craft items, weird mixed media, and you just make an offer. I AM going back without my DH. !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  Click the photo to enlarge
To the left a few of the purchases at the resale shop...an awesome adventure. But my time was limited.
Magnetic paper doll witch, aged paper doilies, little fairy Christmas paper dolls, Operation Iraqi freedom playing cards, tiny bunnies, a few rubber stamps...And a whole lot of scrap fabric for other projects on another desk.
To the right remains of cards not yet put away.
This mess is a drawer I unloaded looking for the makings of the card below. I have to find a better way to locate purchased embellishments.

Thank Julia at the STAMPING GROUND who hosts WOYWW,  partaking keeps me sane. You can visit and enjoy the fun just by visiting her blog.  I apologize for not visiting last week,  I'll do a double take this week.

I must have forgot to photo the unusual backside of this sympathy tag. I used a Vintage Angel with a lovely verse and embossed the backside of the envelope.

Have a lovely week.  Thanks for your visit.  Spring is almost here, birds, and geese are abound and by Friday temps will be in the 60's.  I am so excited.

WOYWW #351

Good Morning, it's another fun day of viewing the desks..Julia at the STAMPING GROUND has hosted this event a long time. She's got the info to partake and sites you can visit for a trip around the world of peoples workspaces.

You can enlarge the photo by clicking it.  I the process of more sympathy cards. A classmates sister passed 2 days ago. And a very close friend on Monday, his wife and I were classmates for 10 yrs and friends forever.  It will be a huge funeral, he was a 20 year President of our Catholic School System and boys Baseball Coach for years. It is still hard for me to comprehend. Sunshine is in the forecast so that will help us all.  Dark and Gloomy today with misty eyes and  windows.

Missed last week as I had Bunco and my husband and I went to the city shopping and lunch out. Was some very warm temps, so was a fun time to get away.

In a previous post I have posted some fun cards for several birthdays. So I have been being creative.
When things settle down I hope to be trying a few new ideas in my crafty space.

Thanks for visiting

Just One Tribute to A Wonderful MAN

With the death of a close friend of mine and to all the surrounding communities this is a hard time in our area for so many. He was a true Gem to all and this student worded it so well.

Eugene M. Meister

November 5, 1947 - February 22, 2016

Written by a student:

Very few people touch as many lives as Gene Meister did. He was a tremendous man: a husband, a father, a grandfather, a coach, a mentor, a role model, and a friend. With regard to Catholic education, he was a titan, a leader, and a visionary. On the baseball field, he was a Hall of Fame coach: a leader and a mentor of young men. He had a monumental impact on my life and on the lives of countless others. As a baseball player, he taught me more about life than anything else. I remember his talks before and after games very vividly because of the messages that they contained about life. Anyone and everyone that came into contact with Gene Meister was a better person for it. He was a generous, wise, and caring man who gave so much to so many. My thoughts and prayers go out to the Meister family, and to everyone else who loved and cherished this man.

The OBIT is here :   http://www.oakcrestfuneralservices.com/obituary/148243/Eugene-Meister/#services

Heaven has gained another true Angel. I will truly miss you Gene Meister.....you were a pillar for so many. So thankful you were my friend.

Some Creativity

Welcome, it's been awhile since I have added any new posts.  I've made a few cards for a variety of reasons.  I appreciate your visit

 A few Valentine tags
Our neighbor boy turned 3
A cousin turning 80 and having a surprise party
My brother turned 55, a western man through and through

The reverse of that tag.

We had a visitation tonight  of a classmates sister who passed unexpectedly  with the funeral tomorrow. And now I am working on another Sympathy card for a very dear friend. His wife and I were classmates for 10 yrs and the best of friends forever. Plans are in the process for this week.

It's as I feel, a gloomy day.  Speaking of Sunshine and Warm temps tomorrow and I am so hoping
May you be enjoying a wonderful day, with thoughts of Spring.

WOYWW #349

Welcome to each and eveyone of you.....so glad you have some time to visit the WOYWW day.
Julia at the STAMPING GROUND hosts our weekly adventure of visiting desks. It's always a pleasure to see the new ideas, and the variety of work others are doing and sharing.

I did get some time this week at my desk, because we had a major 2 day storm. 50/60 MPR winds and blizzard conditions. Roads were closed and things came to a standstill. I was thankful we did not loose our electricity. We did not get a lot of snow it just drifted and rearranged its drifts over and over. Working on 2 birthday tags for the end of this month. But my MoJo just isn't with paper at times. Previous post has a couple of cards I also finished up.

Click on the photos for enlargements:

I spent more time with my new sewing machine..This is a  patterned bright colored dish kossie  for those hot bowls coming out of the microwave.  I bought this one and attempted to make the light beige one, a sample run with odd pieces of ugly Christmas scrap fabric. SIMPLE...I did find an excellent video done by Amy  of   FASHION TOPPINGS  which made the whole process very easy.
And we all have leftover fabric ............so it's a great way to use that up.

USE ALL COTTON Fabric and Liner...EVEN THREAD if you put it in the micro...I don't  I just use it to hold the bowl while I eat.

I know many of you love working with Fabric and these are a must have for microwave hot bowls. And there are bigger sizes.  Great gifts, I've bought several for just that, but now I can make them..Hope you enjoy this video if you are interested.

We in the states are having Primary elections..preparing us for our future candidates in the up coming Presidential election, so TV is either addictive or not so much. We had our SUPER BOWL Sunday, and college basketball keeping me attentive. Our IOWA Hawkeyes and Iowa State Cyclones are doing great this year so college basketball wins over.

Thanks for stopping by....have a fun WOYWW kind of day and enjoy a lovely weekend.

Sunday Funday

HAPPY SUNDAY to YOU......The sun is shining brightly, awaiting 40 mph winds and blowing snow. But enjoying the calmness right now. And sometimes the forecast turns out wrong.

I've had some time in my crafty space to play and finish up some projects. Been enjoying learning more on my new computerized sewing machine and finished up the bottom half of my curtains.
Now I'v trying a few more fabric projects, which I'll share later.

I had to make a quick Sympathy card for my husband's cousin's father-in-law. He was a very religious man and I went with the Praying Hands. And it turned out his Obit front was that theme.

This was more of a tag to be displayed  on a holder...Had a nice verse on the back which I forgot to photograph.

This is a card I made for a blogging friend who last year had a stroke and is working hard on her way to recovery.  It is made from an old calendar with art work done by Kelly Rae Roberts.  I love her work and just couldn't bear to discard this calendar,  It will arrive later than I wanted it to, we had a blizzard and for 2 days things were shut down in our rural area.

Thanks for stopping by. Have a wonderful week.  Now it's on to Iowa Hawkeye basketball and the Super Bowl.  Having our own little party at home so we can WATCH the games. He's making  hot wings,  I did some deviled eggs and a relish tray.

WOYWW #348

Welcome to my world of wind and snow.  There is about 8 to 12 inches of  snow that keeps rearranging itself in drifts throughout our area. Everything was closed yesterday and no travel was advised, I'm sure it will be the same today. I miss my mail. My windows are plastered full of snow as the wind direction keeps changing. The good thing about it is I can spend visiting the Wednesday workspaces..  Julia our hostess at the STAMPING GROUND has the info and places to visit listed on her blog.

I rearranged my cutting table just in back of this desk, dusted and boxed up some unused items. These  sorted out game pieces etc, need to be put in my embellishment drawer system. I took down the dauber sticks and decided to use the old wooden tray for a while. The blue ice cube tray can help out if I add new colors. Don't know where I'm going with the glass desert dishes yet.  Hoping I get to paint the little clay molds for use in my next card or tag projects. They turned out great.
This is the desk to the right of my main work area....had a few glue projects. The music box Railroad just fell apart, no doubt from the dry air here in the house during winter.

I continue to pray for my friends grand daughter, they now have cut her hair and the "Hair Fairy" has come and made her smile. More on this from another post last week. Prayers for Kaelyn and thank you to all who have made such wonderful comments and are praying for her.  I just cannot imagine how they are all adjusting.

Thanks for your visit, I'm off to have some waffles with berries, put some ribs in the crockpot, whispering a few more prayers as my DH takes his tractor to town to help clean out driveways. The roads are a mess. I will be back to make my visits and get inspired.   Have a wonderful WOYWW kind of day.

On another note I've noticed 10 of my followers are gone. No doubt because of the new BLOGGER thing..If you cannot comment it is because of this change.  Will have to see how it all pans out.  It is only commenting and following that you will be prevented from doing if you arent a Google+ account holder.
