WOYWW #429

Good Morning,   it's Wednesday time to share our work spaces, our hostess Julia at the STAMPING GROUND has the info to play along and the places to visit.

I missed last weeks play along as my hubby and I were gone everyday, visiting little Iowa towns, with their summer fun days. Great weather, good food and lots of fun. Then we Celebrated our 12th wedding anniversary Sunday with the day spent at the Lake with some fun times.

Since the photo I did try out my stamping platform and I love it.  I've some bigger stamps and didn't have the right size stamp blocks, so this will save $ and space.  Also 2 new dies that will be fun with fall coming, the leaves and a mini album die   Fall is my favorite time of the year, but I truly don't know where summer went.
One evening we attended a church auction and I found this mini kneeler, long shelf I purchased and It has given me more space but raising up the 2 shelf cubbies that hold m distress inks and my colored pencils, brushes etc in the cans. The photos of the stamps are from using the platform.  I also picked this steam lid up with the idea of using it as a stencil (Circles) and the little white dohickey..for arch shaped form.  Haven't had time to try it.
Here in America we had the eclipse yesterday, was disappointing as we had a storm and not much was visible for us.  Glad for the great news coverage of something fun for a change.

Have a wonderful week, thanks for visiting and your time in commenting.  I can't believe it but we have NOTHING on the calendar for this week. OH the things I can do here at home !!!!!

WOYWW #437

Good Morning fellow deskers.  Hoping you have bright sunshine and a wonderful day.  It's Wednesday the day we share our workspaces with our lovely hostess Julia at the STAMPING GROUND

I have my 3 grandkids here from Cedar Rapids,  14, 12, 9 yrs old,  so it's a pretty simple week.
Swimming, movies, grandpa entertains outdoors, with gardening, 4 wheeler rides, feeding barn cats etc..and a 89th Birthday party tomorrow for my Mom.

Yes, imagine I bought a card, I liked the verse and didn't know how much free time I'd have so I just decorated the envelope. We have a party at the Assisted Living for the residents and any family who wants to come (they'll be a lot of us).

The first year in a long time the kids missed our small Country Fair, but baseball and softball were still being played.  We went and I saw this cute doll wearing a replica of my 4-H uniform from the 50's. WOW.   Adding this as a few comments did not know about 4-H   Goggled showed IOWA

https://www.iowa4hfoundation.org/index.cfm/36964/4060/kossuth_county_4h_history

Each county in the rural areas had a group of interested girls ages 10 to 18  gathering once a month, learning cooking, sewing, wood working, etc...had a set project to do within that month and did demo's at the fair.

We went thru the floral hall, had lunch at the Catholic stand, it's the best homemade pie and chicken & biscuits around.  Of course a night of car racing and  walking thru the grounds seeing displays.
These little flowers are outside our patio.  Just love them.  Johnny Jump Ups is what my grandma called them  Viola's
And at last my T. H. stamp platform arrived.  Ordered in March  and Just got here it had to go thru government hoops before it could be sold I guess.   So can't wait to try it out.  I've seen good results from it.

Have a great week, thanks for stopping by.

WOYWW #426

Welcome, I'm so happy to be back. It's been quite a long time.  Our summer has had a full schedule.
Those on Facebook know I've been visiting for 2 wks my son in Virginia.  The first week just had fun hanging out with family and learning their schedule as the next week I was in charge.   I took care of the 3 grand girls while they went to the Dominican Republic to celebrate their 40th birthdays.

Our schedule was hectic with Swimming competition practice each morning, Kumon (math/reading) summer school 4x a week, and Martial Arts 4x a week  Driving a new car, learning the directions,  using 6 lanes of traffic , and dealing with 90/100 degrees temps and high humidity was all a challenge for this Grandma.  But with the grace of God, a helper Sarah, we made it, had fun and created lasting memories.  AND we won the SWIM meet.  My sons plane was cancelled Friday so they were unavailable for the meet Saturday, which was 40 miles North in super busy traffic and I was the one who had to get them there on time.  I wanted a licences plate that said "IOWA GRANDMA"   things here are a lot different on the hi-ways !

Almost for got to post that Julia at the STAMPING GROUND is our host for our Wednesday peeping about others workspaces.  All are welcome to join in, and details are on her blog.

I have enjoyed my time home, appreciating the quietness of our area, and resting up.  I lost 10 lbs, have started a daily walking routine and have been enjoying my crafty space and some new arrivals.

 My new painting/coloring/stenciling  area...
 Some new stamps and dies
and Tim Holtz  CityScapes Suburbia   WOW  tiny pieces I loved some of the things I've seen made with this set, but this was trying.  I cut 2 of each, one for a sample and one I hope to use  The hardest part was gluing together.  I actually think the "BIRDS"  would be easier.  I've been intimidated by them since I bought them, but actually think I WILL get started with them next week. I love the finished ones I've seen.
Then I kept the grouping together and placed them in small vinyl card cases Lots of tiny pieces

Thanks for visiting, I will be around for sure, I did pop in and out, but using a cellphone isn't the easiest for leaving comments etc.   Have a great week

WOYWW # 419

Thanks for stopping by.  I don't quite know where the days go, but we are sure keeping busy.
After missing last week, I must share the ATC's I've received.  It amazes me the beautiful variety and the distance we cover with joining in with Julia's STAMPING GROUND.

Just lovely colors from Sandra De

Another beauty from our Hostess Ms Julia....Loving the flower dies used on both of these.
Two lovelies from  Annie  and  Jo  both with their beautiful  unique sewing and dumfing works.

Thank You all so much.

My desk shows the last of the card making since last week

And the cards resulting from my crafty works

This was for a surprise party held for a local gal celebrating 30 years serving with the U S Army. And she was surprised.  On my desk it shows the inside of this card opening with the red within the white circle.

And this was sent off for a fun friend we have sat with on Thursday nights at our local race track for a long time.   Kinda of started to decorate the envelopes.

We spent 3 days with my son and his family in southern Iowa, enjoying softball and baseball games of  the 2 grand children., Wonderful food at Cheddars on Friday night after the  game 1. Pizza and a fun time just chillin at their beautiful home Saturday night after 2 games in the 95 temps and high winds.
Early Sunday off to 2 more with the same weather conditions..needless to say I have a nice tan started.  Just a great time.  Our weather is really HOT and HUMID for this early in the summer. Storms forecast, so hoping for just gentle rain as things are withering with the dryness.

Thanks for stopping by, may you and yours enjoy a wonderful week.

Memorial Day Tribute Johnny Cash - Ragged Old Flag

Johnny Cash had some great music and when he got his life back on the straight and narrow really did so much for so many.

We raise her up every morning and we bring her down slow every night We don't let her touch the ground, and we fold her up right. On second thought I do like to brag cause I'm might proud of the Ragged Old Flag--Johnny Cash
Today is Memorial Day here in the US...a website to visit http://www.usmemorialday.org/backgrnd.html
this has a great overview of it and another spot to visit which is the story of  the poppy
http://www.vfw.org/Community/Buddy-Poppy/  and the Poem   IN FLANDER'S FIELD

Memorial Day, originally called Decoration Day, is a day of remembrance for those who have died in our nation's service.

I truly hope you all fly your flag, bow your head in thanks, and be true to our RED, WHITE and BLUE.

WOYWW #416 Happy 8th Anniversary

A day to celebrate!  For 8 years our hostess Julia at the STAMPING GROUND has made it possible for so many of us to become friends, by sharing our desks on Wednesday and enjoying each others blogging friendship.   I want you to know I have truly enjoyed each and everyone of you. Your workspaces, your comments and all that you have shared. It's been a fun WOYWW kind of thing.

My desk shows another birthday card, there are LOTS of birthdays in May for me.

My grand daughter's card and envelope
The inside of her card.  Hoping the Unicorn is still a hit with her.
My brother in law is a weekly fisherman so his little fishing vest has all he needs in the pockets.

                                                                  For a friend

For my Sister in law

All but the vest, I used the TH distress oxide's for the background. I have enjoyed trying things with them.   And still no TH "Birds" !  Maybe I'll use one for my DH,  I will have to push as Thursday is his birthday

Have a wonderful week,  sorry no visits last week, we were gone. So much rain and so many storms we took some time to go to the cities and get away.  We did have a little Sunshine today but Mr Wind moved in and little Ms. Sunshine left us.

Prayers for all of you in the UK with the sad Manchester terror attack.  I hope none of you lost loved ones when this happened.  Our world has changed and with this group it is not for the better.  We would all like PEACE and HARMONY for EVERYONE.  So I now pray for this.

WOYWW # 415

Welcome, it's again already  Wednesday, the day we share our desks. Ms. Julia at the STAMPING GROUND is our hostess and has lots of fun things going on this month of MAY,  So hop on over

This week I was busy making cards.  This is one I gave to my mom for Mother's Day here on Sunday.
This was my desk last night. Makings for a few more birthday cards. Isn't this gift bag a beauty? I love watercolor designs and found it on a sale rack. More for my MOJO than a gift.
I just ordered these flower dies and I really love them. Quick service too.

I scheduled this, but we had a severe storm, over 2 inches of rain, hail (no doubt damages to our fields) (too early for DH to see in the darkness), lots of thunder, lightening. But after electricity came back and our satellite tv, we are very grateful, East of us many trees down and thousands without electricity.  More scheduled for today, plus tornado possibility .  We have ponds, which later I might be able to take photos.

Thanks for visiting, wishing you Calm weather and Sunshine.

WOYWW # 414

Welcome to my Wednesday post for What's On Your Workdesk Wednesday. The thrill of visiting others from all over the world and how it works shown by our hostess Julia over at the STAMPING GROUND.

In the making of a 10 yr olds birthday card, I recently went through my dies and found one I've never used, the pop up effect in the blue  or for this pink card. It was a fun one to put together. And it is mailable for no extra charge, as it folds flat. Yeah !~

Short and Sweet,  I rambled last week playing catch up.  So thanks to all who visited and left comments.  Have a wonderful week.

Sunshine has blessed us this week, so must go out and enjoy it.

WOYWW #413

Welcome, I'm back and I've missed all my blogging friends.   Today's the day we share our spaces. Our fun hostess Julia at the STAMPING GROUND  offers other places to visit and you can be informed of our upcoming anniversary of 8 years and our ATC exchange.

We have SUNSHINE. It's been a gloomy, cold, wet, for 3 wks here in Iowa.  Monday I worked with rhubarb, made  9 jars of jelly and a desert rhubarb crisp. The only garden things to work with. Too wet for planting vegetables or flowers.  No heat or sun for even the perennials to pop up.  Hosta's and Viola's are doing pretty well.

Two weeks ago my DH was dealing with saving this little calf, those of you on Facebook maybe said a few prayers and saw this a few days later. He bottle fed him 3 x a day for about 2 weeks and kept them in the barn to stay warm and out of the rain and wind.  Then magically one day he went out at an odd time and baby "Lucky" was up and nursing.  Doing well today he let them out to pasture with the others. Then the fun begins. Frolic in the sunshine and running with some new buddies.

Last week Wednesday up early from a phone call about my mom..ended up taking her to the clinic and she is now doing pretty good. No Sunshine and damp weather is taking it's toll.  We had 2 retirement parties that week and these were the 2 cards I made.

I've been working on some lace projects I need to put the unfinished eggs away and get this space cleared so I can start sewing them together.

Here I have been wrapping lace onto clothes pins and sorting thru the wire basket, Oh the pretties I've found. I should finish setting up my Etsy shop, but ran into problems with  not being able to load photos those 3 weeks. Got that problem solved I guess.

Thanks for visiting and any comments you leave.  Hope the world is treating you well. And prayers to the southern states after all the tornado's and flooding.  I hope you are all safe.

EASTER WISHES.....Alan Jackson - "The Old Rugged Cross" ((Live))

 Welcome:

I Love Alan's Music, we were traveling Easter, but I hope you all enjoyed a wonderful day
doing whatever it was that makes you Happy and Content.

We can't all be with family like in the  "Good Ole Days" but we need to realize things have changed and we need to accept that and do what makes "US" happy.

Thanks for visiting

God Bless

WOYWW #410

Welcome, I'm so glad you stopped by. It's already the Wednesday before Easter and a day to share our workspaces.  Julia at the STAMPING GROUND hosts this little adventure. And soon we will have our  8th year of sharing.

I was unable to play along last week, photos would not load and I was dealing with another kidney stone.  They just pop up out of now where and  your plans change immediately, mine to heating the area, drinking liquids like crazy and Advil.

I was able to go out Thursday  with DH as it had rained and picked up an 8 ft and a 6 ft  x 30 inches Wide banquet tables at a garage sale for  $9 !!!!! my photos have always had me using 2,  4 ft  tables x 24 inches Wide.  what I gained was width and more space underneath for storage. Got them switched out and Love the extra space.

Above is the 6 ft table and I am using it for my inks/paints. I had my sewing machine here and 2,   4x4 wooden card tables. They fold up and can be stored for guests.  I moved my sewing machine to the right.

If I could put these photos side by side this would be the 8 ft table space. Had started to work on some flowers and was interrupted by a phone call, my DH is working in the fields and needed a ride back to get another tractor. He was able to do the chemicals before our rain yesterday, took time for another baby calf, and today has been fluffing up the dirt !!!
Such a healthy little guy.  So fun to see him frolic in the pasture !  Like he's free and lovin' it.

Thanks for visiting. I hope you have a wonderful day.
