My Favorite Colors

I've always been a fan of our country's colors. RED, WHITE, BLUE, nothing makes me prouder than to see our flag waving in a slight breeze.  When my son joined the military it took on a whole new meaning. Tears when they play the Natinal Anthem, and hurt when people don't respect what it all means and Pride to know that my son is helping us to be a free nation.

My card today has some shabby goodness on the edges, even did a little stitching, finished off the inside and made an envelope.

And "THE SPIRIT OF THANKFULNESS"  the Sentiment is just what it's all about.

Challenges for this Card:
The Kraft Journal   Memorial Day
Welcome to Flourishes   Let The Colors of Your Flag Show
Creative Belli  Letter S Challenge #117   Stars Stripes

Stop by these places and enjoy the Design Teams Inspirations. Such pretty creations.

Thanks for stopping by, take time to enjoy everything that comes your way.

Anyone with Problems in Blogger Comment Land.  Someone gave me a tip...uncheck the Stay Signed IN box and all should be well.     Life's too short for that much frustration.

Happy Weekend.

OH " I AM SEW EXCITED"

Oh I saw this Challenge in the Moxie Fab World  "I'm SEW Excited" and I knew I'd have to get out my collection of Vintage Sewing things and participate.

Most of the things here are from my grandmother's sewing box or my husbands mothers sewing machine drawers.  So I plan to hang this in my sewing area.

Started with crimped cardboard for the base. I made a felt blue flower  and a zipper flower in the top right corner. Added a pearl earing and necklace to the patterned lady.  The lower corner are zipper pulls I stashed when I take the zippers apart to make the flower.
Notice the Prices.  15 cents for Needles, 10 cents for Hook and Eyes, 49 cents for Ruffled Trim,
10 cents for Woolworth buttons. The Singer Tag was from his mothers Machine and who would know what the price for that would have been back in the 30's.

What fun I had putting this together. Now it can be on display rather than in a box.  Stop over to Moxie Fab World, Cath has some awesome photos posted. And the designers some great fun cards.

Thanks for stopping by.  What a beautiful weekend in store for us.  Enjoy every minute.

Challenges "Just Because"

BLOGGER IS NOT LETTING ME POST COMMENTS   TRYING ANONYMOUS, if anyone has ideas please comment, This has been happening for 2 wks or better.

Family's left, laundry's done,  house is clean, lawn is primed, car is washed and prayers are said.  Well I'm back at it. MoJo stopped by so I am enjoying my creativity.

This has punched out pieces to create  a "Shaped Card" using layers, buttons, patterned papers, favorite stamp, and colors of Light Blue, Lt Yellow and Kraft.  I distressed the edges, used some distressing ink to make it a bit shabby.

Challenges for this
CR84FN30 Color Challenge

Sugar Creek Hollow  Shaped Cards

The Shabby Tea Room Week #64  2-4-6   TWO PATTERNED PAPERS (manufactured or handmade), FOUR BUTTONS AND SIX LAYERS!

Simon Says Stamp and Show  Your Favorite Stamp

Crafts and Me Challenge  #37  Punch it Out

The Design Teams at these blogs have some very lovely inspirations. Stop by and take a look. I mentioned Prayers Said earlier, they would be appreciated for a few weeks. The residents of Dakota Dunes SD are being evacuated from their homes as the Missouri River is flooding. My niece and her family and my nephew and his family have loaded semi's, sandbagged, and have left there homes. Not knowing what to expect, except for rumors, the area could be destroyed. Most have no flood insurance as it has never been a flood area. Besides their homes, businesses, churches, care centers are all being affected.
They were lucky enough to get the warning, fortunate enough to have a circle of friends and family to support them, finding temporary places to live and strength to endure the unknown.  Our prayers and God above will control the outcome. Lets hope it is for the best.

Thanks for stopping by, enjoy your day and happy crafting.

Todays the Day #104 WOYWW 2nd Anniversary

Happy 2nd Anniversary Julia, master mind of WOYWW's fun of sharing and peeping. Thanks Julia, the visits to your Stamping Ground has been such fun.

Today is the day Julia at the Stamping Ground has planned for a fun PiF day. I've mine ready to go, just have to have the address.   I am a PiFing  WOYWW participant.  You will have to hop on over to see all the details. It's a really fun day, when we capture our workspace on film and let others view it.

Cannot wait to use some of these fun things.
We took a 3 hr drive to visit my son and family in Cedar Rapids. It was our granddaughters 6th birthday. So before we picked her up from school I got to shop a little!!!!  What fun and             Michael's was having a Sale to help out....so some new flowers, and some patriotic extra's to use with our next holiday...the 4th of July.

So our Thursday day away and  Friday thru Sunday my military son and family were here visiting. Monday was a holiday in the US with lots of activities to attend. So it all accounts for the fact I've been MIA.  (missing in action).
And the good news is we are going to be grandparents again. Another little girl in September!!  I was soooooo excited.
Sky was 1 in April and what a great time we had with her.  Just hated to see them drive away.

Just so much fun to spend time with the family.
Thanks for stopping by. Hope you enjoyed your visit. Just hop on over to Julia's and join in the fun.

Wishing you a wonderful day. Maybe say a prayer, my sister left yesterday to help out her daughter
and family and her son and family. They are being evacuated from their homes. Semi's to be loaded   and other places to live for at least 2 months. Their area Dakota Dunes is involved in a controlled      flooding of the Missouri River.  I pray they have homes to go back to, thankful they had the              warning to get out ahead of time, and asking that they have the strength to go thru this horrible       mess.

WOYWW 103 Getting Close to PIF Day

Will be happy when Thurs is here. I get to party with my granddaughter in CR on her 6th birthday.
Today I have a list a mile long to complete before we visit her.  And it is also my DH birthday TODAY..so trying to work fast as we have plans for an evening out supper. Not much time for crafting the past few days. This little post is suppose to be for Julia's little venture at the  Stamping Ground. Post a picture of what your work area is like and have fun peeping at the others who post theirs. So fun to see what people are doing.

My desk is Kinda boring..Have to get the Mickey card done before we leave. It is for my other sons 1 yr old, who will be here late Thurs night to spend the weekend with us. They left Atlanta last week and are now living in Kansas, (which has been having all these violent storms). They are in what is called tornado alley, thankful that they have a basement but so far no household items. Movers to come June 1st or 2nd.  So that meant, clean the lower level, freshen up the bed, get out a few toys  and get a supply of food around. Everyone is excited. They haven't been home for almost a year.

Will be having my family here Sat or Sun for a cookout, depends on our unusal weather, so had to clean the 3 stall garage, just in case we have rain all 3 days, cleaned the flower beds, cleaned up the patio furniture, and trimmed  so my DH could mow.

He purchased this at a sale 4 yrs ago for the other grandkids, packed it in the hay mow the past few years, but thought SkyLynn would have fun with it this trip. So cleaned it up and now I have to find a place it will fit inside the house.

I needed to use up some fresh rhubarb and Zappo..both sons love Rhubarb Jam so I quick made some for them to take back home. Wanted to make little cloth covers for the tops of the jars, but don't know if I will have time.  Will have to pull some fresh Sat for a pie and also pick the Aspergaus.  Think I only have to vaccum, find the night lights, wrap gifts, find my flags to display for Memorial Day and clean my refrigerator.  So sons can say "WOW you can find things in here"
DH and I will go to the cemetary and decorate family graves, can't wait til Thursday!!!

Thanks for stopping by. Enjoy your day

WOYWW 102

Welcome to Spring in IOWA...wow it has been a long time a comin, but Sunshine is here, flowers to be blooming, and grass has been mowed, the farm crops are planted and a small garden. Beautiful birds have been visiting and a few weeds popping thru.  So next will be bugs! !!!

You need to stop over to JULIA'S at the Stamping Ground to see why I do this post. Just a fun thing going on to peep about others work areas.  People from a broad spectrum of our universe, I might add participate.

This little WOYWW makes me realize I must be getting older. The days fly by and my progress on accomplishing a LOT has slowed down. I only accomplish a Little each day, but here is my desk:

Basically the remains of a Patriotic Card I made for the post below and some challenges.  Tidyed  up a bit and went outside to plant a few flowers. I was even brave enough to let the cats come out with me, just to see what they kind of adventure they would present.  But the "good" cats that they are, they just stayed pretty close by, enjoyed the fresh air and are now back in taking a much needed nap!!
Finished up my PIF and can't wait for the big event!!!!  Even came up with 2 ideas on using the letters WOYWW... All enjoy a great week.  Thanks for stopping by. Hope I get time to visit a few more than last week, my DH had to get out and about with all the rainy days. Weather this time of year is hard on the farmers. But with a few said prayers I think our warmth for growth of the crops is here to help them out.     Enjoy what you love most.

Stand and Salute

Oh how I love anything Patriotic...no doubt due to the fact my son is a Career Man in the United States Army and have some family members and friends that serve our great country.

My card today is tattered and battered, I used distressed ink on the edges a bit, added a tag with some stitching, and a Primitive Flag with some buttons and a charm.  A wooden star and a heart button in one corner, a tiny heart punch gave me a few more patterned stars, a Primitive Felt Heart with some bakers twine and a Primitive Heart that expresses my THANKS  and stamped the senitment  "Stars and Stripes".

I love how this turned out. I will no doubt send it off to J for the upcoming holiday. They should be settling into a new residence in Kansas as he will be taking another year long schooling.  So happy as they will be so much closer for more frequent visits.

Challenges for this:
The Kraft Journal  "Stand and Salute"  and some of their Kraft products
Stamp Something "Anything Goes"
Creative Belli Blog   #117       "Letter S"      Stars, Stripes, Sentiments
Sugar Creek Hollow   "3-2-1 Receipe "  3 Designer or Patterned Papers, 2 die cuts, 1 charm

Thanks for stopping by, hope you enjoy a truly beautiful day. We are so happy, our temps are warming up and all the flowers can be planted. My husband finished planting, spraying  all his new  crops. So we have lots of outside projects to get busy with.

Something NEW and EXCITING

A blogging friend has started a new Etsy Shop ,  The Funkie Junkie Etsy.  But there is more..
you can go to her site from my sidebar or here as she is giving away some great candy. $15.00 to use at her shop.
The Funkie Junkie  so stop by, leave a comment, post her giveaway  and see her beautiful little creations. And have fun peeping about. She makes beautiful designs.  It's a great way have a morning coffee break.

Enjoy!!

A HAPPY SECOND BIRTHDAY!!!! BAXTER and BAILEY

At 2 months old these 2 kittens were to be Barn Cats,  well they captured our hearts and we kept them in the house after taking them to the house 9 to 5 and back to the barn 5 to 9. They had their own special room there in July, but it was HOT, there were Flies, and no lights at night. So one rainy night my husband said "Lets Just Leave Them in the House"... We have never regretted it.

Baxter to the right is a BIG cat 17lbs considered a Lap Cat!!! loves to be lazy and be by you no matter what.  and brother Bailey only 11lbs, he's quick, curious and independent. Will sit with you if Bax is sleeping and enjoys all the attention. They get along great, travel well, and once in a while have a "Rust O Bout" with each other.  They know the word "TREAT" and can do a few tricks if a treat  is available.
Haven't been "Outside" too much. They don't like to have their feet wet and look like they are half scared to wonder about the grass etc.
This is their favorite thing to do:

look out the door or the windows!! As I was cleaning all the window sills today, both were right there to offer some help and loved watching the birds and smelling that fresh spring air. I had the windows all open it was finally 86 degrees and beautiful.

Thanks for stopping by, hope you have some great fun this week. I will be serving Salmon as the  birthday treat tonight!!!

WOW #101 WOYWW

Posting a little late, have been helping my DH with his farm work. Taking to and from farm fields to move his tractors, wagons, planters, discs to various places. He is in Heaven out there,  Working from 6AM to 9PM  in his air conditioned cab with radio on and his cell phone. Packs a lunch so in his own little world.

Time just keeps flying by. Since the last week, I have good news to report on the weather. We have had SUNSHINE FOR 3 straight days.  Yesterday it was 98 degrees, today 86, quite the change from 50's for what is suppose to be our spring.

Stamping Ground has this awesome little "PEEP" at your neighbors desk thing each Wednesday, Julia started this sometime ago and it just keeps growing. Stop over and see what it is about, as in week 104 we are exchanging PiF things.  I've changed my idea 3x but it is almost ready to send off to someone. A PiF stands for Pay it Forward. A 'pressie' is shorthand -OK, slang, for a present, gift. Not a USA term but we learn a lot here too!!!!!

Most all of the drawer space here has ribbon, trim, Christmas, other odd things. It is where I work    with my dies, paper cutting, embossing folders etc.
My desk has "Little Treasures" on it and right now can't be shown!!!!  In back of this big table, I have set up an ironing board and a chest with fabric and trims . Won't be long and I'll have the whole lower level  taken up, visitors will have to get a motel room!!!! and use the bar in the entrance of the garage area when we entertain!

Just a little closer view, with some big punches I took out of the chest I am using for fabric.
Thanks for stopping by. It's always a fun venture so while I am on a farm break, I get to peep about a bit.
Truly hope you are having WONDERFUL weather.  I now have some tulips.

Primary Colors for a Kids Card

What fun this was. I have always loved bright primary colors for kids.  And when something comes together it makes is all the more fun.

My grandson loves Monkeys and his Mother loves the sentiment "IT"S A ZOO".  Sometimes I just send a card with a little $ in it to know that it will bring a smile.  (Maybe I can forget the $ this time)
I think the card can make a smile.
I embossed the colored layers with branches, as I think Monkeys are usually in trees,  most everything came from my stash of this and that, even the papers were from my scraps. So in the mail it goes and think I'll have a banana.

Challenges for my card:
Welcome to Flourishes Timeless Tuesday Challenge (FTTC116) A Card for a Child
Crafty Catz Weekly Challenge   A Quote
The Pixie Cottage PC#68  A Sketch and For the Boys

The Ribbon Reel Challenge Blog Challenge #1  Colors: Blue, Green, Yellow, Red
and use of Ribbons, Twine, Buttons.

Thanks for stopping by, may your day be wonderful in every way.

Embellish Color Trends

Embellish has a Challenge for Square Cards with Color Trends

I totally love this tea set and the wonderful colors. Yet when I went to put this together I just drew blanks and nothing really seemed to fall in place. I wanted a Teapot Stamp to work with but no such luck in this area. Just couldn't get the effect I wanted. Like hitting your forehead with your fist. Da.
It's there but it isn't!!!

After 3 photos I couldn't get the Justrite Sentiment  "Celebrate" to show up very well. I distressed the edges added some trim, sparkle and flowers. Embossed the yellow and topped it with a tag die and sentiment.
Thanks for stopping by, have a wonderful Mother's Day weekend. We have wonderful news, our   weather is taking a turn for more warmth.  Hip Hip Horray. I can "again" put away the quilts and  long pants, sweatshirts and shoes.  It's capri's, sandals, T-shirts and maybe a spring jacket and no    doubt an umbrella close by. Hopefully signs of flowers popping thru.     ENJOY

A Tag for Mothers Day

I made a few tags today for Mother's Day, a little distressing, some colorful fibers, and a few layers of pink. I usually send  my daughter-in-laws a Mother's Day greeting and thank them for being such great mothers and for taking such good care of my sons.

Challenges:
Joans Gardens  A Tag Challenge
Tuesday Throwdown #47   Mother's Day
Craft Critique  Mother's Day

Thanks for stopping by, my you and yours enjoy a wonderfu Mothers Day

A Sketch and Color Challenge

A color challenge at The Play Date Cafe  PDCC #80   and isnt' it lusious..beautiful poppies I think.

The gals at Verve Stamps are having lots of things going on. April Showers Bring May Flowers and this Sketch Challenge:

Which I thought looked so fun.  For my card I distressed the edges, for a little Shabby goodness, then  layered a paper doily, added some sweet buttons, a Senitment from Verve on a Wonky Die,  and added the May Flowers which are from Verve stamps and I cut out and layered them.
Sometimes I think the hardest part of making a layered card is choosing all the papers to blend together. I guess it isn't hard it is just time consuming. and I debate and debate.

Be sure to stop over to both blogs, the DT's have some really fun inspirational designs.
Thanks for stopping by, and may you have a wonderful, fun filled day.  And all the Blessings of a        Very Happy Mother's Day.

Click here to go to the Simon Says Entry .Simon Says Challenge
Some mix up in blog address previously.

IT'S WOYWW TIME

This is WOYWW Wednesday. The day of peeping into others fun blogs and seeing what they have on their workdesk.  Thanks to Julia at the Stamping Ground we seem to enjoy peeping about others things.  So if your interested, pop over and enjoy your time peeping at others stuff.

I have some groupings of papers waiting for me to decided what layout I will use upon entering these into some  color challenges. So must get movin on this as some deadlines will be expiring.

On the table to the left is an assortment of new products, (inks, mists, dabbers, etc) I purchased a while back and have yet had time to sit and play. I did go to the Ranger U  website and printed out how information sheets on how to use these. Did you know they even have labels to use for the Distress Inks?  I need to print those off as I stack mine and frustrating to quickly find what I want to use. But then why are are we always in a hurry?

Thanks so much for stopping by.  Enjoy a wonderful week.  April Showers have left us and now we finally have Sunshine, only the 50's, but May flowers are budding a bit.

New Challenges

Good Morning all. What a truly BRIGHT, SUNNY  Morning. It's been a LONG time. Just pumps you up and gets that MoJo moving. Hoping I can be outside when it warms up a bit. I see my fern peony is about 1 ft high and must check to see if tulips have any chance of blooming.

My card today

I don't usually use grey or lime green so thought this would be a good challenge for me to try.
I framed my pattern paper, distressed the edges and mended the makings of a flower. Added the sentiment "Blessings of Joy" . I thought this might make a nice Mother's Day card for one of my daughter-in-laws.  They  both are Blessings of Joy for loving my sons and being wonderful Mothers,
keeping a happy home and making family life so important.

Some NEW fun challenges:
The Play Date Cafe  Challenge PDCC79 has a Color Challenge

Just Add Ink Challenge JAI 66 "Just Add a Flower"

The Ribbon Reel  Challenge #1 "Pick a Color" from this combo  ( I used the red, green)

ABC DT Challenge  "April Showers Bring May Flowers"     (lets hope so!)
