Celebrating Red, White and Blue

I'm in heaven..all the challenges have been so fun. Using things we love, colors we love, makes for keeping cool inside on a Heat Warning Day  in Iowa so fun.

My project for today started by using a mat board I distressed, some sheet music and distressing it a bit also, a strip of red aged star paper on top. I used a die cut for my blue star, topped it with a crocheted star and a small flag, made from torn strips of kraft popped on to the red background, a small piece of blue is topped with buttons..  The mason cord was aged a bit, (all my ribbon was a bit too bright for this piece)  tied it and added a red pleated circle topped with wired silver sparkle and a little red star. Added a little star in the bottom corner, and a little sticker "Home" in the top left corner.

I just love it. May take it with when we go to visit my son and family. It is his life, serving our country, so I've always been very supportive and proud of his contributions to keep us free.

Tuesday Trigger at Moxie Fab World

A Challenge at:
Moxie Fab World: Tuesday Trigger  Inspiration from pages of Stamp It

I'd say I did a case study of this card, made a little black table and using real lace for the table cloth,  some distressing ink for the Sunshine stamp and the cut out Vase stamp, which I popped up and added the flowers. Made from wire for the stems of the gems and gem flowers, added A "Thank You" sentiment and a little green border.

It was fun and will be great to send to a friend who always has some lace and flowers on her table.
You need to stop over at The Moxie Fab World Cath has so many things to offer to you for inspiration. The blog is full of ideas, beautiful photos, and lots of fun new ideas.

WOYWW #108

Up before the chickens today..sometimes sleep just isn't restful, so up and at 'em and scheduling a nap later!!

Julia at the Stamping Ground it looks like is missing in action...lying in the sun somewhere, but a fill in this week has some most beautiful fabric displays to share. Stated that she is a Virgin Blogger but she has a good wit about her so When you are done enjoying her post you can hop around and snoop at all the other entries and see Whats On the Workdesk Wednesday.
Just lots of fun and always so many new things to keep your mojo going.

I've made quite a few posts this week on our country's birthday celebration "The 4th of July"
always town celebrations, parades, food, games for kids and adults, music, horsehoe, baseball, apple pie and the grand finale  FIREWORKS.   So my workdesk is boringly clean, but I too have been working on some fabric projects.

Kinda organizing trims, embellishments etc to do a few more pin cushions like my little PiF.
Reviewing some  old Barbie Doll Patterns (maybe for next weeks WOYWW as seems my camera is taking vacation.

Wishing you all a wonderful WOYWW day and a super fun weekend with family and friends if you are celebrating the 4th.  Be safe, patrol will be out in full force, and Thank You to any and all Military who have kept us a free nation.

My little helper..

Vibrant

I've made a card  for my granddaughter that I need to get in the mail. I spotted the Challenge #97 at Paper Cutz and thought I'd use it for their color combo this week.   Pink, Orange and White  Her favorite colors.

I used a border punch for each end and a kit with the papers and chipboard pieces. I usually do the Tattered and Vintage cards so this was something different for me.. She's young and vibrant so know she'll love the mail and the message.  When she's done with softball she can come and spend some time with us.
Thanks for stopping by and enjoy the rest of the week.

Thank You for America's Colors

July 4th is almost upon us.  Sometimes the Patriotic music brings tears to my eyes, thinking of what all our country has been thru to keep it free.  So many people have sacrificed to keep it free.
I thank the blogs that have our "COLORS" for these challenges so close to the July Holiday.
It is a good reminder.                        "FREEDOM ISN'T FREE"

My paper Flag has some tattered edges, some old wire and old string woven thru the top, with a THANK YOU tag, and a Celebrate tag attached.  The blue and white have been embossed and the red is some mesh I found at a yard sale, the wooden star has a little sparkle and some tied red and white twine.  It isn't our traditional "Old Glory"  waving in the breeze but I'll find a great place for it.

Thanks to these Challenges for their thoughtfulness

Stars...

I found a few challenges that fit in with a Patriotic Fan I wanted to make for the holiday coming up.

I used my corner rounder on the red cardstock, used a Star punch on the silver cardstock, added a top and bottom sticker border. I have LOTS of patriotic ribbon so the striped looked great here, had and old wooden star, added some glitter and  a red button heart. Layered a couple other stars on the sides. And wahoo...all ready for the sunshine and a parade.

Challenges for this are:
The Play Date Cafe  Challenge #87 a Wonderfu Color Combo

                                                           Slate Blue, Barn Red, Grey

Vintage - Butterflies - Color - Challenges

Good Morning, oh so much Sunshine and Fresh air and the MoJo is doing good.

My card today is for Challenges at   Craft Your Days Away  CYDA Challenge #23 - VINTAGE

The Stamp Man  Challenge #25 - BUTTERFLIES and DRAGONFLIES

 The Ribbon Real Challenge Blog

Color Challenge #4
BLUE-KRAFT-BLACK-GREY/SILVER

and my card

I tattered and distressed the edges, even did some stitching at the bottom, which doesn't show up so very well on the dark,( but didn't want to change the thread and end up in frustration trying to re-thread it for my last Barbie Doll Clothes) (more on that another time) !!!  frayed the edges of the burlap, added some tulle and popped up the butterfly which has a glossy finish on it and created quite the photo challenge.  I made the little flower from some scalloped circle dies, stamped it with black ink and misted  it with H2O before I scrunched it up. Added some blue lace and grey tone pearls. And oh la la...
Thanks for stopping by...have much to do outside today, our 1st nice day in over a week and the weeds and grass just keep growing...so have to get busy.  Enjoy your weekend.

The Color Purple

Hello everyone..in need of some warmth and sunshine, but the challenges today kept me pretty up beat and entertained.

My card was so fun to put together. I had made some different colored flowers a few weeks back and just had one in purple.

I embossed both the black and the kraft with Swiss Dots and distressed the kraft with a distressing ink. I used a metal tag, stamped with Love and a little sparkle. The flower is layers of a square of fringed burlap, black netting cut with a flower die  and the 7 layers of purple cardstock, cut with a die, sprayed with H2O and scrunched up, layered and  popped up with foam dots, sprayed with glimmer mist and shaped. I added a pearl heart in the center and some wired pearls in the back.
I also added 2 metal corner pieces and different forms of fiber and ribbon.

My card is for the following challenges:

Sugar Creek Hollow  they like a little vintage, shabby chic, or primitive design plus this week the colors  PURPLE, BLACK, KRAFT.

The Beary Scrap Design Team and Challenge Blog  Challenge #28  DIY Embellishment

Simon Says Stamp and Show  Some Metal

And all 3 have some lovely designs by their design teams. So hop on over and have some fun.
Thanks for stopping by, it's always nice to read your lovely comments.  Enjoy what you love best.

WOYWW #107

Happy WOYWW....at the Stamping Ground  you can Mr Linky a photo of your desk to Julia's blog and show
What's On Your Workdesk Wednesday.  Then you can spend your time "PEEPING" about those entries and be amazed.

I haven't had much time for creating this past week, some yard work, painted an old bookcase while the weather was nice, making rhubarb jam from our last cutting and Sunday it was time spent with families his and mine for Father's Day, Monday my parents celebrated 66 years of marriage so while taking one for a doctors visit, we made a day of it having lunch and shopping a bit, and Tuesday I spent  doing laundry, and making my 1st scrapbook page, (posted just below) and cutting out Barbie Doll clothes (more on that later).

This little wooden item my DH brought home from a sale for me...perfect for my embossing folders and a deal at only $1.00...I have a another one in back of it I found last year and it has a drawer also.
Can't forget "Alan Jackson" he keeps my mind a throbbing...

To the right I purchased a wire holder for my Sizzix dies at a yard sale so all I need to do is turn around and my dies are all easy to reach and use. The score pal sits in back of that and in the very rear is my sewing machine and work desk.

Which really don't have too much to talk about, some beads I used on the scrapbook page, old postage stamps and domino's from the sale, a little round box I made a loom out of to make the flower on top .

Well, have some errands to run before another storm stops by. We have had fog, wind, heavy rain off and on for 3 days. Terrific lightening and hail and tornado's to the west of us. Mother Nature is on a rampage in our area but better than the fires and floods others are having scattered all about our country.

Thanks for stopping by, enjoy the WOYWW of all the others. Hope to visit most of you again this week if we have electricity!!!!!

My First Scrapbook Page

I adore people who make beautiful scrapbook pages.  I've never made one.  But the Craze Sketch Challenge  #117 at  Skissedilla   looked so fun. Their guest designer is Tara Anderson who's blog I've just started following.  I loved Tara's fun blog and it led me to some fun places.

My page was made from a piece of cardstock I have been hoarding a long time and I've no information about it anymore.   My little granddaughter "SKY" turned  "ONE" so I have this lovely little picture which just reminded me of  soft girlie colors.
I used different shaped layers and textures on the flowers, added  pearl flourishes, framed the little picture, and used old print newspaper letters for her name.

I think it turned out lovely.  I never started making scrapbook pages, I've only made greeting cards, but I think I'm hooked!!!.. just never have many picutures of the grandkids in hand but many stored thru computer communications. So will have to see if I can print quality photos.

                                                                  A little close up.
There are some beautiful designs at Skissedill blog so have fun visiting.
Thanks for stopping by.  We survived some terrible storms last night, so I am thankful. Enjoy your week  and take time to do the fun things you love.  Life is Short.

WOYWW #106 and My Homemade PiF Gift

Always so fun to give and receive. There was some anxiety at first, but what the heck..
This was all because of Julia at the Stamping Ground was celebrating 2 years of this wonderful crazy idea to find out WOYWW. A peep about other crafty peoples work desks. And it is over whelmingly fun. Mostly to meet such great people and of course  SNOOP !!!!   My PiF went to Sally in South Wales, UK   and she emailed,,  she received it Saturday  so this post will be no surprise.

The card I included with the WOYWW tag

The front side of a little pincushion. I made several of these a few weeks back and it was a hard choice to make on which color would be ok...I'll post the rest of them in the next few days.

Backside has a pocket and I put in a few fibers..
Then I added a little bag of goodies, my card, some diecuts, a tag, small papers and stickers.
Mailed it and hoped it arrived in good time and that she would enjoy it.   All in all it was a lot of fun and I hope we do it again...(Christmas??) what fun that would be. I love Christmas and the variety of ways people celebrate would be so interesting.

My desk for #106...oh what a mess..I've been searching for doll clothes patterns to make some  Barbie  doll clothes for a friend....tore apart my storage area, piled up things I need to go thru and my desk has been in second thought land for a week. And guess what.. I still haven't located them.

This is a dumping ground for a recent garage sale. Sheet music, wire card hangers, old jewelry, old doilies, and much buried.  Make sure to stop by Stamping Ground and see what's happening today.
Sorry it's a bit lengthy, but I am a rambler..no doubt.
Enjoy the week and thanks for stopping by.

Some Happy Birthday Fun
OLLCB  Challenge #81  Happy Birthday

The card was made for these fun challenges:

I did a little ink distressing on the tattered edges and the embossing.  I loved this Embossing pattern, staggered a few layers, added some hand stitching across the bottom with the buttons, a Happy Birthday senitiment, and a crochet heart is always lovely, topped with an adorable flower, some swirls, a corded bow and heart shaped stick pin with 2 pink sparkles.  Was a fun card to make and the colors were lovely to work with.

All of the challenge blogs had some truly wonderful designs.

Have a wonderful weekend, we are recovering from a hard, heavy 3 inch rainfall last night and kinda of a cloudy day today.  Our weekend forcast sounds lovely. Enjoy it and thanks for stopping by.

WOYWW #105

Here we are at the Stamping Ground WOYWW 105. A fun spot to entertain yourself peeping about other peoples desks. Was so fun last week Julia celebrated her 2nd Anniversary in the blogging world with this and we could make a PiF  (gift) and mail it off to the person below our name. So as
Time flies..I received my lovely PiF yesterday's mail from Andria.

She wrote the nicest card about embellishing bottles with papers, stamps and fibers. She made the flowers from an old copy of The Scarlet Letter. Thank You Andria I will display it with a little collection of tiny bottles and remember the fun WOYWW has been.
My desk today, had no clue when I went to take the photo. Was gone "Shopping" yesterday and this AM went with my DH to take a tractor part to a repair shop and pick up some paint etc at our lumber store.

Looks like I should be making a card for a challenge, in fact 2 different ones, but I may have to skip one as I have lots planned for tomorrow already also.
Well thanks for stopping by, I am hoping I hear from Sal my PiF receipiant...she lives across the sea so could be a few more days for snail mail.  Enjoy the few days left in this week.  We are having a wonderful sunny day.  Our humidity left so I really should be outside watering flowers and trimming as I think my DH will be mowing later.

Enjoy..

Girlie Shabby

Hello fellow bloggers.  What a beautiful day we are having, humidity left us so kinda feel guilty spending time inside.

My card today is a bit Girlie Shabby..

I distressed the edges, added some stitching to the patteren paper, made the flower with a die cut and inked it up with inkers and glossy accents, to complete it I added some bling and lace.
Challenges entered.
Sugar Creek Hollow  PAPER FLOWERS, VINTAGE LACE & BLING.
Really Reasonable Ribbons  Challenge #25   Colors of PINK and BROWN
Mark's Finest Papers  Week #58    3-D FLOWERS

Thanks for stopping by.  Enjoy your week it's half over. Time just flies by.

Its a Sketch Challenge with a Color and Text Challenge

I enjoy challenges and at Embellish Magazine they always have something with color. This time it is
"Text Color Trends"

I paired it up with the Card Patterns Sketch #118

I struggled with these colors, first I really couldn't tell what they were, checked back to see the DT  teams great creations and the entries and that helped but still nothing.  Then Mojo hit, the Sketch hit, and the card went together pretty easy.

I used some script background paper, embossing folder with script, a border punch and a heart die that I topped with  the Hero Arts text stamp.  I made the flower from tulle. And walla..

Thanks for stopping by. Enjoy a great week.  It's 104 here with high humidity so a great day to stay inside.

Challenges

I have always thought Blue and Silver make a great color combo. This week in Moxie Fab World
the   "Tuesday Trigger" is just that.  "Classically Modern"

At  Our Daily Bread it is   ODBDSLC63 Sentiments Only
At  Just Add Ink   it is a    JAI 70 - Round Sketch
At  Fussy and Fancy Friday  A Card for a Man or a Boy
At  Simon Says Stamp   Father's Day For a Male
At Craft Your Days Away   CYDA Challenge #21 ~ Fathers Day/Special Man

My card for these challenges and my Dad:

I used my Round and Scalloped dies for the background, a Silver doily, embossed the "Dad", added the truly appropriate Sentiment from Our Daily Bread, and added a small pink rose, as I detected a dash of pink in the Moxie Fab World trigger.  Besides I think my Dad loves flowers more than my Mother. To mother they are work, to dad, life is only good if he can work at something no resting allowed.  (But he's in his chair a lot at approaching 89!!!! ). Dad is Dad and I love him.

Thanks for stopping by, enjoy the weekend and stay cool. Over 90 here and VERY humid.
